scales can be problematic watch the lights and the truck in front of you
some you do roll over some you stop each axle
some you roll by slowly in the pass thru lane
as soon as you think you got it figured out they will change it

Lol thanks Pete. I will most definitely keep that in mind. Only bad thing is like last night there were no others in front of me. But I'm just glad he was pretty cool about the whole thing. Thanks again for the info. Every little bit of knowledge helps.

I am assuming from the loads you are a van driver? I pulled flats for them at the end of last year. I don't recommend flatbed, unless you are into self abuse, and not in the fun way!

I figure since I have some time on my hand I would jot down another update. Sitting here at the pilot in Albuquerque. My trainer and I have been running pretty hard. We dropped of a load yesterday at the Lowe's DC in Cheyenne. We were already preplanned to bring a load out of there to a Lowe's store here in NM. Because we were so ready to move we failed to look at when that load was to be picked up and delivered. It was preloaded therefore the DC gave it to us. We get here this morning shower and eat around 1000 we decide to go drop the load. To our surprise Lowe's doesn't accept deliveries on Saturday and told us to come back tomorrow. Well we were pretty upset and the trainer got ready to send his DM a message and we looked at the load and realized because of our speedy Gonzales ways we picked up the load a day earlier than we were supposed to so we had nobody to blame for having to sit around but ourselves. Another lesson...make sure you pay attention to your pick up and drop off dates and times. No biggie though we met some pretty cool older drivers who kicked a little knowledge our way instead of the usual moaning and groaning that is heard at the truck stop. More to follow.
ARMYtanker28, hal380, Gunrunner84 and 2 others Thank this. -
Is everything still going OK I'm going to orientation April 17 in the flatbed division. How are the miles on the van side what kind of miles have you been driving per day?
-
Nobear yes I am a can driver. I never wanted to get into the flatbed side to start off but I might change over once I get more behind the wheel experience. I guess it all depends on your situation. I met both kinds of flatbed drivers for Western. Some like it and some don't.
JR80 Thanks this. -
I meant van driver. It's hard typing on my phone. Lol
-
Grayson yes everything is going well. I really don't want to answer that miles question and that is because I don't want to mislead you or anyone else. Remember I am brand new and am out with a trainer. Well being out with that trainer after the first few days of his observation and seeing that I can handle my own has turned into basically team driving. So I am not sure how the mileage is for a single driver yet. I will definitely let you know once I get my own truck. But from what I can tell on the van side there is always freight to move.

Thanks for the info be safe.

Thanks so much for sharing some of your experiences. What does Western Express Pay during your training period?
