I have spoken to a recruiter from western a few days ago, and while I am flirting with a variety of companies I have a few questions about the company. I have my CDL with all endorsements, but have driven sporadically at best over the last 10 years. Mainly hauling equipment to and around job sites, crane boom sections ect. and smooth bore tankers for around 4 months in the last year. As far as the "free refresher" I have seen in a few other threads that the 375 a week training pay is docked by 200 a week, is this the case?
Please no company bashers and run away posts I've read those already... I know that the job is what you make of it, and sometimes you've got to deal with some BS to get where you want to be. If you current guys could let me know about some of the good and bad, plus ave miles a month and so forth it would be great.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm in a similar situation as you. Only I haven't driven in 12 years. So far they are the ONLY company that will consider me without recent school program. I've read all the bad, is there anything positive here? I'm wondering if I could just ''suck it up'' for 6 months and get some time behind the wheel under my belt.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread.

i know that if you conme in with NO exp then you get charged for 375. however i dont know if that is the case for you or not. far as the refresher course im not sure either. the training ther culd be better, but then agiain you make the best of what you have. so far Wester has treated me very well.

If you live in Vegas, you've got many other different options, much better, just in case WE isn't wfT you're looking for.

Yeah I am in talks with Roehl, and a tanker company out of St. George also. Just hedging my bets for now. Construction seems to be picking up and if I get a decent union call then I'll run it out before going OTR, but those have been pretty few ad far between lately so I'm pretty sure I'll be rolling coal for someone soon.

I hear that Mr. Biker. Been doing carpentry most of my life. It's only getting marginally better here in the N.E. Jobs are just so few and far between.
