I want to know of the experiences people have had with Western Express, but only the western states. I've never heard much good or bad on the west side. Any input helps!

Just found out I need to take a refresher ..... And saw western express advertising a refresher course.... So I'm awaiting to hear what people have to say about this place also.

I am trying to do my research but cannot find much on the western states division based out of Fontana, California. I know a big complaint is that they charge you $200 a week to ride with a trainer... Supposedly they did away with it about 2 years ago. There is no contract to sign so I guess the worst thing that can happen is I take another offer...

I talked with a recruiter today, asking him about the, "training" fee. He said they did away with that about 3 months ago... He assured me, and double checked with his staff that the only thing that gets taken out of your pay is taxes. It's $375 a week for the whole time you're in training. The guy promised me that they will not take any fees out of my pay. Lots of bad reviews, I'm really skeptical to go with Western. I think half of the disgruntle was because of the training fees they used to charge. But, any big companies you look up there's always people bashing on them. I think that's just trucking for ya, people expect to get treated like royalty with starter companies. I just wanna get my foot in the door and my experience in.

Did he say how long you had to stay there? (1 year?) or there isn't any commitment ?

So one could conceivably drive for them for 2-3 months.... Give 2 weeks notice and there's no problem?

I think by law if you give a proper 2 weeks notice companies cannot do anything about it. I always write a formal letter of a notice to give to the company, and keep a copy for myself. Then they can't throw anything back on you.

With any company you never know but the vast majority of Western Express drivers quit within 6 months...that telling you anything ? I made it 7 and I gave up on them.Be warned if you do decide to go with them.
