I have never ever, ever heard of a fifth wheel letting go if properly latched. They simply are not designed to let go by accident once the truck and trailer are properly connected.

You might watch this video so that you better understand what might have gone wrong.

Every company serves a purpose depending on who you are. I went to Western for one reason, experience. I knew I'd make a lot less than I was worth, but it was only a step to bigger and better things. I made it a point to avoid accidents and tickets. After two years at Western with a good CSA score, no tickets and accidents, I was able to get hired on by a reputable company. I'm making more than double now, and at home more. I can't knock Western because they gave me an opportunity. I did my research beforehand and knew what I was getting into before orientation started. Western can be that stepping stone a lot of people need.... or, it can be your last driving job.

Trucking companies are similar to credit card companies. If you screw one CC company, the next might extend credit to you, but for an annual fee and higher interest rate. It's silly to ##### about the higher interest rate since you're the one that screwed the original company. If you screw the second CC company, you're too high of a credit risk and no one will lend you credit. Western is that second CC company for a lot of people. Use it to your advantage and you can move onto a better company. Mess up at western and you'll either always work at a low-tier company or you'll be finding a new profession.

The dude labeling every Western driver as a felon, or a wreckless driver should learn english before bashing anyone else. Too many resources out there to be writing like an eight year old.
