Yes, I have read all the bad things. I also read all the bad things about my first employer and I have no complaints. It's not in my nature and I don't care about much except making money. So....

Can anyone who IS or HAS done the western express lease option please tell me how it's been going? Also, if anyone is working there or has worked there in their flatbed position and how it is.

I understand someone somewhere got stranded for 3 days and had to go home because sister was sick and grandma couldn't take care of her and they were late getting you home and then your arm broke...I understand and feel bad but I'm not too interested in those situations. Just every day stuff. If you get miles and get paid on time.

Most of the horror stories on here and the people saying not to go work there are very rarely done by actual Western Express drivers or people don't really give any reasons.

I really want to get into flatbed and so if anyone has other suggestions, I'd take them as well.

    Thanks!

Start a thread with a pompous attitude like this one, and you'll get advice alright.

Good luck with the Lease/Purchase at ANY company.

And yes...I have driven for Western---but not on purpose.

On the contrary, I have seen other people start posts like mine and end up having people respond with what came across to me as pompous attitudes towards a certain company or program when said person never even worked for the company in question.

I'm short on time as I'm supposed to report to orientation next week so I merely wanted to cut through all the personal opinions and get straight to the people who have been in my shoes. This is only because I have spent a good deal of time looking for these answers already and this is what I've run across.

For instance, your statement of "Good luck with the Lease/Purchase at ANY company" would be a perfect example.

I apologize if my wording came out pompous.

O.k....fair enough; your Lease question has been asked and answered in MANY a post. Seems the popular opinion by people who have been in them is "stay away"....regardless of company, so I don't see Western being any different.

I can give you MY experience...but it may not pertain to today. I drove for Smithway Motor Express (SMX) when Western bought them out. They SAID they would allow SMX to run as it always did. Well; a couple of months in...the SMX drivers were starving for miles, because we were making .37cpm (flatbed), while the Western drivers were making .32cpm (flatbed). So regardless of who was empty first if there was a truck of each flavor in the same area, the Western truck got the load while the SMX truck sat...because they could move the load for .05cpm cheaper.

That will give you an idea of what kind of company they were (or maybe still are).

Then they tried to falsely ding my DAC: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...on-about-everything/156174-hireright-dac.html There is that thread.

About all I can tell you.

Run the other direction driver. They are worthless, leave you out for 8 plus weeks at a time.
