You call going to work for a company that has complaints from disgruntled drivers a setting myself up for major disappointment? You should try fighting an unpopular war run by a bunch of liberal ####### trying to get re elected with your hands tied behind your back! I guess its a ###### good thing I didnt listen to all the disgruntled people who have been kicked out of the military over the years either. LOL

How are you liking it over there? From the sounds of your post you aren't disliking it yet, alas you probably got a good dispatcher. Most of them aren't that great unless they went through and replaced all their dm's.

Well here is my experience with Western Express so far. I spoke with my recruiter Sherry Buttrey last week and she asked what day I wanted to leave. I said Sunday because both of my kids have separate plans on Saturday and my wife couldnt be in two places at the same time. So she said to make sure that I was at the Raleigh bus station no later than 8:45 to catch the 9:55 bus on Sunday morning the 21st. I even wrote it down and repeated it to her. My wife was standing there next to me writing down on the calender as well. Then she sent me an email confirmation that included large red print of what to bring with me. So last night I packed everything and went to print out the email just to take it with me. Thats when I noticed that in small black letters she had my departure date as Saturday the 20th! Of course nobody was available to asnwer the phone either at Western Express or the bus station. And neither of them were in the office this morning either. So I went to the bus station hoping that it was just a typo on the email she sent me and that she had not scheduled the bus ticket for the wrong day. When I got to the bus station they pulled up my confirmation number and told me that my ticket was scheduled for Saturday the 27! And of course its Sunday so nobody will answer the phone at Western Express. My feeling on this subject is that I dont have a criminal background. I have no tickets or accidents in my life. And I was with my last employer for 24 years. So I dont have to go to work for a "second chance" company, I can pretty much pick any company that will hire you right out of school. And if Western Express cant even schedule a bus ticket, what would they do if I was broken down in the middle of nowhere on a snowy Sunday evening? And if I am going to go over the road driving a truck for somebody then I would expect better communication and planning skills from the company I am working for. So its off to my next choice on my list. Knight Transportation...

Give them the benefit if the doubt; its probably just a mixup. Recruiters for large carriers have many, many contacts and many, many emails, especially when they deal with travel arrangements. Your name might be similar to another, she might have looked at the wrong name/date combination, or maybe she just made a mistake.

If you really want Western, give them another chance and call tomorrow. My guess is you'll hear an, "Oh, no! Our goof" response and they'll give you another date. If not, you have choices.

personally, I went with Schneider over 2 years ago and have never looked back.
One of the up sides for a grown man who has been around the block and who has trucking experience is that the "training" part (when you actually ride with a trainer), is only 5-6 days.

Best of luck either way you go.......

Schneider is actually on my short list as well. I think I might be calling that recruiter back on Monday too...
