Hi...my husband is starting orientation this next week, but we are trying to get some details about health insurance before he heads out the door! Unfortunately, no one at Western Express can/will give us any info - they say it will be covered at orientation. What I do know is that it starts the first of the month after 30 days of employment.

So I'm asking the great folks here - can you give me any info on health insurance? My specific questions are:
    1. Who is it with?
    2. How much does it cost for a family plan?
    3. What is the deductible?
    4. What is the max out of pocket?
    5. What is their prescription plan like?

Any info you have will be so helpful. Thanks!

you can check rates at healthcare.gov to get an idea of price and coverage.

Thank you BASARAB. I am aware that I can get insurance through healthcare.gov, but I am wondering what Western Express offers for their employee healthcare coverage.

My insurance with SNI, different company I know, is roughly 30$ a week for only basics. No eye, dental and so on. All in all, including the cdl lawyer protection thing, I pay about 43$ weekly for mine.

Companies don't offer the same plans, but do often compete with their rivals. A family plan, fully loaded, comes to roughly 170$ weekly (I could be off some.).

We have blue cross blue shield, but that's something that'll vary from company to company anyways.

After working in the healthcare industry prior to this job... Please, if you take nothing else from my post, remember this. I would be extremely hesitant to sign up to work for any company that would not allow or will not share details of their coverage until you're hired. Insurance is one of those things where sometimes you're better off not having any coverage over crappy coverage...

I have always been able to ask prospective jobs about their coverages. Even SNI sent me a basic info package in email when I asked the recruiter.

Yes, Vilhelm, this is exactly why I am trying to get information before he leaves. The fact that NO ONE at Western Express can answer this question for us, when all other company recruiters have been able to give this information, is a big red flag. However, because of where we live, there are things that make Western Express a good fit for us in many other ways...

If I may enquire as to those reasons? If all else fails, try something else. If the reasons are something akin to pets, passengers or time home, those are all pretty common.

    Just something to consider.

Yes, regarding time home, many of their runs go within 10 minutes of our home...

Western Express is a terrible company. They have a bad safety score and horrible equipment.

I'm not asking people to bust on the company. I've done my research. Every company has it's issues. The formus are full of negativity. I'm simply looking for specific information. Can ANYONE answer my questions?

There are other companies available. You'll always pay for the convenience. SNI has me on dedicated, I'm home weekends and roughly every other night.

Im not recruiting, but just saying there's other companies out there. If WE is as bad as people say, your hubby will get burned out quickly. And there's other instances of people who were hired by a non-reputable company, and when they looked for employment elsewhere they found that companies didn't want them.
