I can tell you from talking to a recruiter yesterday their pay structure for flatbed students is:
    100-200 miles $.65 CPM
    201-400 miles $.35 CPM
401- up miles is $.27 CPM
After 15,000 miles goes up to $.31 CPM for a year.

    pattyj Thanks this.

Nope, just looking thru craig's list ads in my area.I get a kick out of how companies glamourtize ads to get the drivers so I thought I would ask and thank you chopperjim.

This thread is a couple of months old, so does anyone know if these prices are the latest (March 2015)? Their website says they gave a 09 cpm pay raise to flatbed drivers. I wonder where that fits in.

So to answer my own question, here is the scoop on flatbed pay:

No pay during Orientation; they provide food and lodging.
3 days of load securement - $70.00 per day
    1 week with a trainer - $500.00 per week

After you go solo, your pay will be:

First six months - 36 cents per mile
After 6 months - 37 cents per mile
After 12 months - 38 cents per mile
After 18 months - 39 cents per mile
After 24 months - 40 cents per mile
After 36 months - 41 cents per mile
After 48 months - 42 cents per mile
After 60 months - 43 cents per mile

Dry van division pay is less. And yes, you will take your truck home with you on your home time. Keep in mind the trainer schedule is what I got, based on my own qualifications; drivers with different or more recent experience can have less time, more time, or no time with a trainer.

I started at western many years ago joe farrell out of fontana is an excellent DM but its like all the other big companys just put your time on and move up.

And what she didn't fully explain in that email to me is that company policy requires taking both truck and trailer home on home time. No disconnecting is allowed at all. So if, like me, a driver lives in a restricted area, then no, I cannot take my truck home.
