My new, final resting place

As I write this, I am on my way to Western Express in Nashville for orientation and securement training as a flatbed driver.

i was unable to get past my past with anybody else, including the one company who knew the truth about my CDL suspension and Western did. They currently only hire flatbed drivers in Michigan, so I will learn securement and a whole new lingo!

I'm a wee bit anxious about this, but it's probably a result of the unknown. I'm sure after 4 days of securement training and a week with a flatbed trainer, I'll be completely competent and knowledgable, perhaps even ####y.

    Uh huh. Right.

But I have to make this work. I apparently have no other options! But hey. I made it through Navy boot camp and UDT training, so how bad can this be? Certainly not as bad as Hell Week...

    Edit 12/20/15:

I originally started this thread when I was at Western Express, but I am no longer there. I know nothing about them anymore, so I probably can't answer any questions. -DD

one day its going to be about -2 outside and you will have to in strap and untarp in this condition. The tarp, straps and bungees will be frozen. Your heart rate will go down slightly, your body will shiver and your fingers will be close to frost bite. That day will come an then you might think twice if this is worst than your hell week because yep I been through that too.lol gl

In those conditions, it helps to put your straps on the floorboard on passenger side when not in use to thaw out, of course your tarps will be like trying to fold a piece of plywood, and when you roll them up they'll be about the size of an 11R24.5 tire, summer is here, good time to flatbed until it gets to hot, there is a few months that it's nice.

Good luck in your new adventure.

Well, I have fixing airplanes in the Interior of Alaska at -65 to prep me. I didn't like it any and I'm sure I won't like it anymore than I liked Hell Week, which wasn't much, but I'll make it work. I have to.

My thoughts precisely. I'll smooth out some of the rough spots during 100 degree temps and hurricanes, then comes winter.

Geez, I sure wouldn't be asked to be anybody's ad agency, would I?
