What are the odds, you must of posted this the same time I asked if you called them, lol.Anyway that's great they accepted him.But he won't be officially hired till after orientation is over.Lets just assume he is,PTL isn't the best company but what company is and its a start so he needs to suck it up and not think of the negative side to PTL.Under the circumstances for now he will not find any better.

PTL is not all that bad...they do have decent equipment and i have spoken with several of their drivers who are happy there....

Great fiancé news. I think he will be happier there than WE. Now he just has to stay a year, which won't be so hard. He's starting off during the "good" weather seasons.

Now the fiancé needs to understand how really big is the size of the target he will be in and how very different the law enforcement standards are for commercial vehicles. Go even 1 mph over and you're liable for a ticket. This ain't no 4-wheeler he's driving.

There are better companies with a year's experience. Read about them here on TTR, do research, and decide what you want to do.

NO! If you are willing to work for a mega, pick one that is reputable.

Update #2: Last Friday (one week ago) was a very devastating day. I lost my sister to an accidental overdose, and my fiance got a call from PTL stating that they would not be taking him after all (even though they said they would, and that he was supposed to be leaving that very next day.) The next day, he received an email from Schnieder stating that they were interested in him. They stated that they put his tickets through safety already and he was good to go on that end, but that he needed to do a phone interview on Wednesday as a formality. My sister's funeral was also on Wednesday. We made it work because he so desperately needed the job. We attended the funeral and rushed home so that he could do his phone interview, only to actually be called and told that they would not be taking him after all.

At that point, I lost it. I literally sat on the bathroom floor sobbing my eyes out for half an hour. I was feeling the loss of my sister more heavily than ever, and feeling hopeless on the job front. We have been told lies and given the runaround by more trucking companies than I can count.

Then, something amazing happened. My fiance's phone rang, and it was Werner. They offered him a spot at orientation and a job. He said exactly what I was thinking, which was "I have been told this so many times only to be let down, is this 100%? Are all of the T's crossed and I's dotted? Can I please get some reassurance?" They put the safety manager on, and the safety manager explained to him that they couldn't even save him a spot in orientation if he was not 100% accepted. The same guy he spoke with even followed up with him today to check in. Every other company, we have had to chase people down, leave messages, etc. and still not be able to contact them.

He is supposed to be leaving Sunday and orientation will begin Monday. I am still scared that something is going to fall through, but all I can do is hope that it doesn't. I will keep you guys updated. If anybody has any helpful info about Werner, it is appreciated. And sorry for the long post.

The first job after "issues" is the most important. He must not listen to the haters hatin' on his company and he must stay a year. After that, he will be a more valuable commodity and can look around. It's now nose-to-the-grindstone time for him!
