To Western Express or not to Western Express?
My fiance just got his CDL. He has 2 speeding tickets on his record which apparently have to fall off before he can be considered for any decent company, and that is over 2 years away.
We should have done our research better obviously. But in the meantime, what is a good starter company that we should be happy settling for? He has been turned down by many decent companies due to the speeding tickets and the only 2 options we are aware of right now are Western Express and PTL. I have read awful things about both. I am terrified. We are broke and I am seeing so much about people not getting paid even minimum wage, or not getting paid at all.
Any advice or recommendations for a new driver with tickets? Anything is appreciated! Thanks!

PTL would be the best.
Do some more applications online & follow with a phone call; this gives them something to look at when you do call:
Navajo Express
Ard Trucking Co.
Big-M Transportation
Comet Transportation-Harvey,IL -
Definitely PTL over Western.
tsquared Thanks this. -
I believe what you say, but could you tell me why PTL would be the best? I like details! Thanks in advance!

Mind giving me some details on why you would choose PTL over Western? Thanks in advance!

tsquared Thanks this.

Millis won't hire him; must have one year experience or graduate from Millis school, unless there's been a recent policy change.
Submit some more applications and see what sticks.Last edited: Apr 7, 2015

I think you probably have more options than just those two companies. I'd fill out some online apps an see who contacted me. I changed jobs a while back an I had two speeding tickets on my record an I have several different job offers. I think one of the main things is if there 15 mph over the speed limit then that's considered reckless driving maybe.

Tsquared you need to stay on this site so we can give you some pointers about how to truck and make money and SAVE money out on the road. A lot of guys "aren't being paid" because they advance their whole paycheck.tow614, Chinatown and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
I can honestly only offer personal preference, I haven't had any experience with either carrier. Something I can add though, is listen to Chinatown he knows his stuff.
