you should really check paystubs.with the freight being slow and people still take advances?we have drivers who took to many advances then wonder why no or little check?if not the case and your bank charges 35 to return a deposit thats not there let western know because of that mistake you should be reimbursed that amount also!good luck

fom what i gether, after siwming througt all the B.S.,there going to pull through, smx seems more like a bail out then a avestment, alot of out dated trailers, there getting rid of,when out driving take alook at the smx trucks, then take a look at there trailer,9 out of 10 times they have a western trailer, but there doing a lot of updates to computers and payroll to make things easyer, its going to take time get it all straigt, then money will get better, ive talk to drivers,TMC,Hornady,Boyd, prime, iget more miles then them.

i think you're way off.smx just bought alot of new trailers and trucks when mr smith passed away.now they can't finance 1 truck or trailer.his wife didn't want the company and sold rather quick so who knows.i think she sold cheap but?reason you see smx pulling western is they broker loads and lease the trailers to smx then turn around and sell our trailers to raise capital-yes they are getting older but still work.investment?have you looked at his record?he buys companies-takes the customers and whatever he can sell, bankrupts the company and gets rid of whats left like a corporate raider does.future?he cut pay a 2nd time recently where per diem is now max so he's saving his company on our future.less taxable income means lower vacation checks, less social security paid.will it work?i hope so because dont know where he goes next?:biggrin_25510:

Western Express is running SMX into the ground!! The reason a lot of us stay at SMX is loyalty to what was once a great company, but that is fading fast. The reason a lot of SMX's equipment is old and falling apart is due to Western not allowing us to buy new and cancelling new truck and trailer orders almost before the ink dried. SMX still has 2001 trucks in the fleet while Western brags about it's trucks being no older than 18 months. We also had to put a lot of our older trailers back in service when Western cancelled the new trailer order but couldn't provide us with trailers fast enough. We are losing loads and customers due to Westerns heavier, longer trailers. They have also told us about lost accounts only for me to see those loads on Western trucks. Good paying loads I might add.

Also this weekend, I noticed our mechanics now have Western Express on their uniforms. Rumor has it, our paychecks will come from Western as of July 1st. I have also heard Knight Transportation owns 40% of Western, but I haven't been able to verify that online.

I do that I will have my lease truck paid for in two months and then I am gone. I can no longer stay here and watch a great company get raped!

My neighbor drives for SMX, I think he said he's been there for 3 years. He recently stated he is looking at other companies. He said with this change over he's going to be losing his benefits (bonuses, vacation pay, things like that) and taking a 7 cpm pay cut. My husband leased his truck on with SMX last year, since our neighbor said when he pulled flat for them he was able to get loads coming near the house when he needed them (he now pulls a boat trailer). My husband wasn't allowed to have any loads that brought him near the house, those were for the Western drivers/company drivers only, not the O/O's, that's what his dispatcher told him when he asked about them. Before signing on he asked them specifically how hard it'd be to get by the house, of course they said "oh we get loads going that way"...uh huh, sure do just not for you! lol
Glad we got away from them when we did.

I don't work for Western Express but it looks like it is alot of folks are trying to stay awake out their. Hearing something on the CB and then asking about it on the internet tells me that a driver is trying to get somewhere without alot of rest, instead of getting the rest they should give their bodies they pull over and get on the computer. And then the next day its a repeat. sooner or later something will have to give, the bad thing is the answer you get is most likely wrong. Don't worry about it.Get some sleep!!!!
