I would not buy a Mercedes motor. Lots of problems. 2009 was a bad year for engine manufactures. This was the transition time for engine companies to meet EPA standards.
I think I am familiar with the truck you are concidering. Is it Maroon is color with a BIG CROME visor? That truck has been on the market for a long time.
Not meaning to be negative but, that Mercades motor is going to be expensive.

Mercedes is lightweight, more displacement than ISM Cummins and a bit less than C13 Cat but it is not a big block engine so won't be as durable.

I've never driven a Mercedes that new, and I did put over 150 k on one with almost 500 k to start with; the engine wasn't that big a problem.

What's the rear ratio and tire size, also, the truck should have a DPF on it. I don't know how well that setup works, but it's probably better than competition, couldn't be much worse from what I have seen.

We have 2 04 trucks with Mercedes pre egr. We pull heavy and the engines work hard but they get better mileage then our cats. When they were new we had a ton of problems but ever since they updated the heads (knock on wood) everything has been good with them.

    -4 (don't buy)
    +3 (MBE is OK)
so far. Considering 1 private positive post,
    I have 4:4 score.
Most negative experiences came form '04-'05 MBE's. Mostly bad head gaskets, fuel lines, turbos.
1 negative about '09-transition period to new standards, more "environmental enhancements" that makes engine perform worse.
    Anybody else?
If possible, please share your own experience with '09 MBE4000.
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas!
