Hello Folks,
I am looking to buy a new truck soon. I want real experience telling me why Western Star over Petes and KWs.
Every manufacturer say we have the best, but you guys with experience driving them know best. Thanks for any input.
Why Western Star?

Having owned a few WS along with W900 KWS and 379 PETES over the years with very similar drive trains the thing I liked most about the WS is the extra space in the cab , you do not need to turn side ways between the front seats to get into the sleeper.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -
Interior space, not seeing one every 2 minutes, and the overall build quality. Dash is still screwed together with no stupid plastic clips in sight. Same for teh cabinets, door cards, etc.

No more than other makes , other than the actual cab and some electronics the rest are common parts ( engine , Tranny , Rear ends , filters ), available all over , and now that WS is part of FREIGHTLINER a lot easier to get WS parts than in the past

I had a cab airbag start leaking a while back, got a part number from a WS dealer and got a replacement bag from a FL dealer. Couple of weeks later, stopped by a WS dealer in Tuscon,Az for the other 3 bags. FL and WS were withing $4 per bag cost wise.
I will say that the WS only dealers treat you 110% better than the FL/WS combined dealers, and certainly most FL dealers I have ever been to. Same goes for KW dealers when I had one many years ago.

I agree about all the extra room in the cab. In a KW or Pete I can sit in the drivers seat and reach half way across the passenger seat just by putting my arm straight out without any stretching or leaning. With the WS I can touch the arm rest. Now I will say this about the KW or Pete, it makes it a lot easier to smack your passenger up side the head.
No body seems to mention it but the WS had tons more leg room for the driver also. I can't seem to stretch my legs out in a KW or a Pete and I am short.
