I agree that the freight is a bit down, but I have been getting an average of around 2400 miles. I guess any carrier is what you make of it. WSE is not the best company out there, but they are also far from the worse. As far as FM's goes I am in 100% agreement. While in Elm Springs last week I saw a FM with my own eyes put their finger in a drivers face and order him off the property, not because he was fired but because this FM wanted him gone with his load. I can't say anything about the insurance because I elected to not take it.

Thing is i think this company is a good company to start out with for drivers with no experience and for trainers. The pay is down right horrible i went through their orientation about three weeks ago and everything was going good till the last day of orientation just before they are about to send you over to dispatch to get your truck and head out for your first load the orientation guy informs everyone "o by the way we only pay .19 per mile on empty miles" which the recruiting department failed to mention in there pitch. Needless to say i got in my car went on back home. I have ran into some there drivers and they say a bounce of 240 miles per load is about average. if you run 2800 miles a week that would be 1/3 of your miles being paid at .19 per mile

The longest trip empty I have made was from sparks nv to the boise terminal. From my own experience I have found these empty miles average around 100 to about 150 per trip.

I have been with wse for a short while now and most people there really seem to be nice, except for my FM. My FM is becky jones and she is the most hateful person I have dealt with in years. The company really should get rid of her. I have talked to other drivers and they all feel the same way. Won't repeat what they have said about her. I really don't see how she sleeps at night knowing how she treats drivers.
Also the pay is crap. If truck companies would realize the that without drivers there would be no company then maybe things would get better for everyone. Really don't understand why they treat us like dirt.

I had a good experience at WSE. Sister company MCT is even better. Becky was there when I was there and feelings have not changed much. I would see what requesting another DM would do. Don B. was my best DM I ever had. Not sure if he is still there. They don't pay that great, but you do get a pretty honest group of people to work with that don't expect you to run illegal. I still say its a great place to start out. Check into MCT also. You run for smaller independents leased on and they treat you like partner, not a number. Its amazing how different two companies that are really the same company can be. LOL

I just got tired of running empty essentially for free (.19 cents per mile) I hope the have changed this by now! Yes Becky is was were another word for a female dog. I didn't care for breakdown they would leave around midnight and you were screwed till the next morning. Night and weekend dispatch were easy to deal with. The safety guy was a complete douche bag. I left because a Walmart dc took 5 hours to unload me hence I ran out of my 14. There is a truck stop 30 miles from the dc so I drove there noted in my logs why. Well that Michael prick brought me in and told me I should have declined the load. I told him well if I was psychic and new Walmart was gonna take 5 hours to unload me I would have declined the load. He told well you are going to log training class for two days I told that douche bag where he could shove his log training class cleaned out my truck and went home. They call me about every six to eight months asking me to come back. I have my own truck and flatbed and my own mc and dot number now I tell them everytime no thanks I run for myself now. I guess it was February an Mct recruiter called me wanting me to lease on for .99 cents a mile plus surcharge. I told the guy that's a joke I hang up on brokers that offer less than 1.50 per mile I really don't like hauling for less than 1.80 per mile. I don't see how Mct owner ops make it at most you will get maybe 1.29 per mile with surcharge. My breakeven point is 1.08 per mile all expenses

I liked Willis Shaw. I didn't mind Becky. They drive automatics. I don't recommend starting out with automatics. You need to learn how yo shift after school.
