They requested there drivers to go to that school. It was a good school in my opinion, but it was not WSE's school. It was a third party. Word on the street is that they have opened there own school now. (again.) After Drumright, OK, I would beg for them to send me there instead, but I am partial.

the recruiter from wse came to our class in springdale and i was very impressed by what he had to say. i asked him if he knew you by your hometown and he said yes. i liked what he had to say about their program on l/p plan. they want you to drive co. for a year and put all your data in a program and will spit out what you would have done if you owned the truck. if i was not starting with tyson monday i would probably go with wse.

Hey, gratz on the new job! I don't know much about their lease program, only their company driver stuff. That being said, it did not seem like any other from driver to driver conversation. Their were some bad stories and there were some that I know of that were at least doing as well as the company drivers. Wonder who it was you talked too, I guess I would be pretty easy to remember by hometown. Not many from Michigan at WSE, and I had to have been the furthest north. I was all set to go back to WSE myself, but I decided to go with the sister company, MCT. A little better pay package, and it is segmented into smaller companies in which one is much closer to the barn. Good luck driver.

Anyone else have anything to add to this topic? I'm looking at Willis Shaw as well. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Baack. I used the forum search function as well but most of the matches I found were references in irrelevant posts. There are a couple of present or former employees that post on youtube that I'll be trying to make contact with over the weekend. Thanks again.

kameraman and AlohaWolfana, are you guys still with Willis Shaw? They're one of the few OTR companies that recruit from my area. I faxed an application yesterday ( 2/22/08 ) and should know something by the first part of next week. ( 2/25/08 ) Everything I've read so far seems okay. I haven't seen many red flags myself, but unless it's something obvious, I'm really not sure I'd recognize an issue anyway. How is their equipment and repair schedule? That's part is important to me. Down time isn't as big of a concern (not that isn't important), as the safety factor. Their freight is supposed to be 100% no touch. I know that may seem desirable, but I've read that it can and does create rather long periods of down-time waiting for a reciever to load and unload. I don't know if friendly service with a smile on the drivers end can affect that or not. Seems like it wouldn't hurt.

They try as hard as they can to have 100% no touch as a help to there driver's, but If a driver chooses to unload, then just get with your dispatcher and let him know thats what your doing. There is a bit of pay for it. Most of there shippers and recievers however have rules against it however.

I was wondering why these guys have such a foul reputation and asked the recruiter if helping unload the truck would make them appreciate the drivers more. The recruiter said the same thing you said:
    Thanks for the reply.
