Squonk I have under both wheel and a hog board and both are just fine. The reason some terminals have a hog board is because they want you to take your allotted breaks. When you have a wheel board you have so many guys that will run 500-600 miles without taking a break and trying to hurry back to the terminal and beat someone else there. The hog board allows you to take your breaks and not have to run like a raped ape. As far as staying out, I understand. When I first hired on I lived 60 miles away and the cost of gas was killing me on my 1975 gmc pickup so I used to try to stay out to keep my costs down. There's a lot of guys that do that. As far as sleepers go, I run them outta Chicago and there not bad as long as you get a good partner. I make more money on the sleepers than I ever did on the solo runs but I'm also gone all week instead of being home every other day like I was on solo runs. The only difference is I make a lot more money on team runs. I plan to make around $110,000 on teams. Hope hat helps

Yeah that's why I liked the team runs at CF. I was making good money but gone for a week. A week is really no big deal to me. The yard was 55 miles from my house, so making the trip twice a week was better than every day. True, it does help to get a good co-driver though. Some just don't wanna run or have an attitude problem. Or they even think they are your boss.

After the driver meeting today they said the company is still "not making profits" But I dont know how thats possible if they are SPENDING MILLIONS in new phone systems and GPS trackers for the trucks. The old way is working fine, either save that money for a rainy day, or use it to get all the run down equipment back into working order. All of our trucks are having problems especially the straight trucks since my boss wont take one out of service for the mechanic to repair, he waits till its completely broken before he fixes them and by that time its so bad it needs to be sent out.

Yeah YRC is still backwards when it comes to priorities. They haven't put any of that junk on our trucks yet at Reddaway but I have heard it's coming. I must say that they fix my truck right away as soon as I write it up. If not I'm using another truck till mine is fixed. Same with the trailers. At Reddaway the equipment isn't that bad but when I worked at Yellow it was pretty bad and even worse at Roadway! In 1997 Roadway would paint their trucks and call them new. No power steering or A/C so it had to be old.

Road units are ok and taken care of, the city trucks they just beat until they are destroyed. For the straight trucks it doesnt help they use old penske trucks

Well a good thing for me is that a UPSF is about to open up close to me now in case I get layed off or whatever reason. The Estes terminal is going to be a UPSF now, which is good because they are getting rid of that scab outfit that does their freight in the city and everything. I might even be in school by january so I will see what happens

They have cartidge companies doing their freight around here. I applied to that yard last year and the day I started YRC about 5 months later they called me. I told them what happened and the guy was real cool and said ok keep us in mind if it don't work out, I'll keep your app on file for the time being. Now the yard is closed down... Dodged that bullet there. Just a shame all these guys lost their jobs

You sure did dodge a bullet! Knowing me, I would have went there. It is a shame when companies put people out of work. Hopefully they were able to transfer or find another gig.
