If I didn't get the YRC gig then I would've, it was the day I started so I wasn't quitting. Plus I'd have to pay a toll and go over the 2nd dangerous bridge in the country the tappen zee bridge. Plus I like the union better

They should hire more drivers though. We give too much freight to this scab company. It seems like everyday we do it. There was one week me and the guy below me didn't work due to "no work" but they were giving the scabs freight instead of us coming in. I think they were trying to milk my union initiation since they couldn't fire me and didn't want me making my 100 days before sept. now I got my raise, vacation, sick, personal days and my benefits! But after that week they needed me badly and I got my days in. The supervisors and asst manager were happy, boss wasn't though and I had to file grievance that next week

Yup. I guess the name of the game is don't empty your bank account; always keep some back. Thank God I'm single with no bills, :biggrin_25519: but, you're right, I talked to guys from 218, 241, & 309, &, they all said the same thing.

Take it as a "break" from running all the time... thats what I do. Although bad thing for us our Shop steward is transferring in two months... Glad he got it since he wated it for so long but the place wont have such a powerful steward though... If i was older and wasnt looking into going to school I would run for the asst position, I got plenty of attitude and not afraid to yell lol. But this is why I see a therapist for my anger issues lol.

Although they will giving me his tractor(using it now since hes still on light duty and cant drive). Needs a lot of fixing though, Im gonna try and see if he can get them to send it out to repair the really bad play in the steering, and at least the bad air leaks, fuel gauge and cosmetics I can deal with

Hopefully it won't be a break till April. I'm really looking into going back OTR. I always stay busy doing that and I make more than I'm making now. Just don't know if I'm ready to be gone all week again.

Look around for local gigs before doing that. I know I would never want to go OTR. Today is slow for us too. Guy below me didn't come in, plus he's not on the list yet. The old steward would give him the work if he came in and someone came late but that's because he's old school. New steward won't but but it's what ever. I went through that too. How ever the dock guy who is driving now came a minute late and he FLIPPED on him. He told him be happy that one guy isn't coming in otherwise you'd go home. The kid was like whatever I got seniority... WRONG if your late you lose your run to a bottom guy who wasn't supposed to work. The kid seems to need an attitude adjustment. I was surprised the new steward yelled and flipped, never saw him do that when he was the asst. guess the old one rubbed off on him.
