When I first started it was 20.35 before the 15% giveback. Was the same dock and driving if you had a CDL

Gonna revive this thread since the one I posted in the yrc section is dead. Can anyone tell me about the south San Francisco terminal? I applied for dock p/d combo and they really seem to like my application. What can I expect and what is this hiring process like.

Also I have a question about insurance. What health plans do they offer ? I'm hoping for kaiser.

Yrc is laid back. Yrc does have premium health plans. Almost free. That's basically all I know.

NY based YRC provided to me & my wife, at $0 cost, the best health insurance coverage we've had in years. Blue Cross Anthem with NO annual deductible, no HSA nonsense, no referrals for specialists, and usually $15 per office visit. Prescription, eyeglass, and dental included. I haven't seen coverage this good in over 30 years. It's so good that I COBRA'd in when I left.

I have no clue about the San Fran terminal, but if given a choice, I would go for Linehaul. The linehaul tractors are newer than P&D, and linehaul means one city to another city, with occasional but few if any stop offs, as opposed to local pick up and delivery, but that's perhaps just me.

YRC is a good job with Teamsters benefits.

Note to Union bashers - until you've worked for a union carrier, you have no idea what you're bashing. How do I know? I was a union basher myself, which was my ignorance at work.

I wish EVERY driver out there could be treated like union drivers - paid for ALL time and work done* with a good paycheck and extreme health benefits. Is the union a perfect deal? No, but it sure beats the alternatives.

    * Kinda like how "normal" jobs pay. ;-)

Imagine telling your plumber "Oh, the dishwasher isn't ready for you, so sit in your truck all day for free and we'll let you know when it's ready."
    Truck driver's answer: "OK"
Plumber's answer: "Bye, and I'm going to where I will get paid for my time, and my boss will agree."

Note about Health Insurance - Most insurance providers offer tiered plans, from the very terrible very high annual deductible up to deluxe and plentiful almost $0 cost to the subscriber plans. Consequently, it is difficult to say "Kaiser is better than Anthem" or vice versa. One has to compare plan to plan to get an accurate comparison. For clarification, the same is true of food caterers. To discover that Aramark is making your dinner can strike fear into many. Turns out Aramark offers tiered food selections, from prison gruel up to what Gramma might make for Thanksgiving. Case in point - some of the food along the Blue Ridge Parkway restaurants is Aramark. I stopped and had an Aramark Thanksgiving style turkey dinner while enroute to Cherokee that blew my mind it was so good. Daughter attended an Aramark supplied school that had the prison gruel food tier. I didn't believe her until i showed up one night that wasn't a parents are in the house bring out the human food time. It was indeed, the most disgusting food service I'd ever witnessed. She lived on breakfast cereal, milk, and fruit.

The end - of - good coffee = long post.

You should feel very lucky. Years ago this company wouldn't touch you without 10 -15 years of good clean experience. You'll have a hard time finding a job in this industry with better pay or benefits
