Reddaway being owned by YRC is good and bad. Bad cause they almost destroyed another good company and good cause now you can easily get hired by Reddaway. Before YRC bought them they laughed me out of the terminal for having 2 tickets that were 5 and 6 years old!

I wil agree about that. Its good that YRC buys its competition out but it still destroys a trucking company... Honestly they shouldve did what Roadway did when they bought out New Penn. Roadway Left it as a separate entity and would use it as its own company. That was the plan when Yellow bought roadway and keep it all separate... Then They decided to combine them all. Only a matter of time before they combine all of Reddaway, Holland and New Penn into the YRC name. I would leave it all separate this way if a customer gets mad at one company have the sales reps from the other entities go in this way they keep getting the money in

Anyone have any info on how bad it usually slows down during the winter? Just kinda trying to get a feel to see if I might be laid off come December or January. I'm at Reddaway in SoCal. I hear it doesn't look to good for us guys on the bottom.

I made it all last winter last on the list and didn't get laid off. I will say that there were some one trip weeks in that time, but not very often. Reddaway tries not to overhire so they don't have to lay off employees. Atleast that's what I've heard up here in norcal.

    cool35 Thanks this.

I don't know why I've been having such a hard time sleeping lately? Been having some tough nights at work because of it. I've always been a night person. I still am but have been finding myself wanting to do things when I'm at home. Think I'll start reading a really boring book or something.

I'm still pondering going to Reddaway. I have an option to go to Fontana, Orange or Downey in southern California. Anyone at Reddaway can tell me which one is a better terminal for line haul? Are they about the same? Trying to stay busy during the winter and hear ltl does lay offs quite a bit or the low guy gets little to no work. I really like the idea of ltl and line haul, just scared of the pay cut and staying busy. I know you guys can't predict what the economy will be like in the future but maybe from working in theses terminals you could give me a heads up? Thanks

I've been having trouble sleeping too. Usually my routine works pretty good, but lately I'm only getting maybe 5 hrs of sleep a day. Maybe cause its so hot, can't sleep when its hot.
