The 30min break is required after 8 hrs ON DUTY...not 8hrs driving...

 

Actually the 30 min is not required after 8 hours on duty. You could remain on line 4 past the 8 hours. You cannot drive unless you have had a break of at least 30 minutes in the last 8 hours.

 

I was told this. I thought that was the case up until I seen everyone going back and forth about it.

The driver will complete his reset Monday at 05:00.

Also, any reset started later than Sunday at 23:59 will fall under the 168 hours since start of last reset requirement.

 

I have a question, if you are at a receiver (like walmart) and you run out of your 14 hours. Walmart say's you have to leave there property, and most of the streets around them are NO Parking. I know about the line 5, I also know about finding safe haven. If you leave and your clock has run out, and you have an accident with a fatality, you know what an attorney is going to do with that. Our safety boss told me under that situation, I would be going to jail. Where is our protection. Would we be able to sue the receiver?? This is not made clear under the rules. What the hell is meant by safe haven. I'm not an attorney, but I could interpret that one a thousand different ways. I really don't expect an answer to this, because there is none. If you come back with an answer, show it to me in the regulations

 

Am I the only one seeing that the new HOS will screw up team driving???

Thats the way to do it! Or use your traffic jam time for it. Easy to get around.

 

How so? I think these new HOS and the next strict rules that will eventually come our way will kill OTR solo drivers. And team drivers will benefit from this.
