The only new tweak to regs out of that list is the the required 30 minute sleeper or off- duty within the first 8 hours of driving. Along with the once a week 34 hr restart. Am I missing something? Not that hard to work around the break. Spent numerous times logged off duty for 30 minutes while waiting in a fuel line.

You missing the fact that the 2 periods of your restart must be between 1 and 5 am. This is going to screw me out of a restart come Monday. I should be at receiver tomorrow at 2pm. I don't deliver till Monday at 8am. If regular rules. I would have a restart by Monday Midnight/Tuesday 0001. Now I would have to wait till 5 am. My next load picks up Monday night at 22:00 and I can pick it up later if I wanted but picking it up at 7 am instead of 2 am is not worth it. Guess I'll have to run on recap hours.

No but you only get 8 hrs of your 14 when you take it so if you run 2 hours and stop for 30 you need another if you want to drive more than 10 that day

    fisher guy Thanks this.

As I understand it the thirty minute break is required whenever you drive 8 hours at most. Meaning you can take your 30 minute break at 2 hours in and reset your 8 hour clock. Basically every time you stop for 30 it resets. At least this is the way I understand it.

yeah forgot about the mandatory 2 periods between 1 am and 5 am on the 34 restart. Looks like in order to achieve that you are going to have to start a restart no earlier than 1900. This will require more planning than before when you could just say I'm on a 34.
