Thinking about applying for a road driver position in Fishersville, VA. Can anyone tell me what type of runs I'd be doing, and what the schedule would be like? Many thanks for any replies!

A real good friend of mine just transferred to that terminal. It's a new location. No management. It's a dirt lot with a Porto potty. It's freight that comes from the Dallas area and Nashville brings it to this terminal. It's actually called the Staunton relay terminal. You will be dispatched based on your seniority. When a load is ready for you your phone will ring and a dispatcher from Harrisburg, Pa will tell you what loads they have available. They run east coast. Places like Philly, Carlisle, pa Harrisburg, pa, NYC and Maybrook, ny. My buddy tells me they are busy as hell and can't find enough people to work in the area. Would be a very good work opportunity for anyone that wants to work. The time off is kinda screwy. If you want any more info let me know.

Good info, thank you. What do you mean about time off being screwy?

You have to do a certain number of trips before acquiring days off. For example, if you do 12 trips I think you'll get 80 hours off. At YRC your time off is calculated in hours not days. Usually after your hours off are over your phone will be ringing unless its really slow you might get a few extra hours off. Just never know and they expect you to be fully rested once they call and ready to work. It's a very demanding job but we are compensated well for it. I've been here almost 10 years and prior to this I hopped around a lot.

is that where they sent Cincinnati too? I Heard it was a new location. i have ran into 2 guys from there, one when I was at 112, he was infuriated about it and said he was quitting to go to Holland so he can move home... HE did say he didnt want to leave the company after putting almost 20 years in. The other guy when I was waiting for my hook (MAybrook) he told me he didnt mind moving there, and was actually happier there

I think they sent a combination of a few terminals there.

I've been there a couple times (new stop we picked up with last coo). Holy crap, 422 sure goes there alot. I looked at sign-in sheet & there were 20 guys from 422 signed in & 2 from 324. It's the hilliest run I've done in our district. Skinny is right, is a gravel lot with an office trailer. No management. They have all the office stuff there. My dispatcher can print my pay-req there. Both times I've been there, I stayed at the Red Roof Inn. You call your home dispatch when you wake up. Both times I took empty/empties to Roanoke then picked up a load there & back to 324. It's a good paying run. Did I mention lots of hills?

p.s. We picked up most the Cincy guys. Cuz it's so close of course.

We picked it up Staunton as well. Few guys there haven't complained about it. It most be all messed up there lol. Not as far as our Akron and Cleveland runs. Our two longest was to Winston 627 miles and Columbus 567 miles. It must be a mess when you go there with a newer truck in sure it's swiped right away
