And to answer your question about how I would know about those companies is, my father worked at both SAIA and FedEx and he has 2 friends that work at ODFL and a couple of friends that still work at FedEx.

It just depends how busy your barn is. If it's pretty busy stay on the extra board. I would run team if they had it where I live cause I always made better money with it like when I worked for Consolidated Freight. YRC took 15% from us in the name of saving the company and I hope one day we get it back but I'm not holding my breath.

Not talking down to you at all,I'm just asking how is it you can know about all those other LTL companies and say they are better than YRC when you say you have only been driving a year...UPS would be the only one better than YRC....OD no overtime,FEDEX is horrible from the standpoint of they will fire you in heartbeat for anyone of the ridiculos company rules if you break them, and SAIA is to small to pay as well as UPS & YRC...So I simply disagree with you,,,because I 've been in the LTL 15 years, and I have firsthand knowledge.

As far as LTL companies go I'd say my choices are ABF, UPSF, YRC and in that order. Of course UPSF is the best right now but I don't like working the dock. So for me it's ABF. YRC is trying to screw us!

YRC is still a LOT better to work for THAN Fedex or ODFL. The teamsters still have quite a bit of say and it's near impossible to be fired, pretty much you have to be a complete #### up. To be honest if they had the pension back at full I would go back in a heart beat. I'll take the pension over the 15%. Still the best trucking job I ever had.
UPSF is just too stressful, to be honest the pay is the highest in the industry but the stress isn't worth it. The union is too weak as well here, many things you can't grieve. I'm waiting to hear from ABF though as they have a similar contract to YRC and under the NMFA with full pension. I know YRC will take me back as I left in good standing but at the same time I'd have to use it as last resort since if I go back I'd feel obligated to staybigdogpile and cool35 Thank this. -
I don't think I can leave this job. Caught a hell of a break here & I know it. If I have to work til I die, so be it. Hell, I turned down several bids because the extra board is working just fine for me ('if it ain't broke, don't fix it'). I jump to 95% next month, yippeee. I think if you had started with a better terminal ACH, you may have stayed.
p.s. I think ST's situation was the opposite of mine. He got a lousy break. If he had started here, holy crap, he would be in a primo position.ACH1130 Thanks this. -
ACH1130 and SaintBully Thank this.
