Well, YRC finally turned a profit this quarter 1.2 mil on their own not including what the regionals profit which is likely in the high teens. Could be a gold mine by the end of the contract in 2019.

It might be a good place for a new driver to start...I have 30-years left to truck (in that time it might be all ok)! :)

That's awesome news. I'm glad to hear that. And yes it is a good place to start. Just hope they don't ask for more

beware i would check with some of the drivers from the terminal if possible. i think you said you are a new driver so it may be worth it. they are laid back. but there equipment at the terminal i worked at was junk. 90 percent of the trailer's leak water. they have a 401k now no more pension. would be a good place to get experience if you can live with there poor equipment. i could not so i moved on. the employee morale at the place i worked was terrible. they may have made a profit but with there high freight claims and loss of bussiness i will be suprised if they stay around for long. good luck

Does anyone know about YRC's Dock to Driver Program?

I was offered a PT Dock Worker position w/no benefits. After getting hired on, I decided to decline it. I'm just going to work on getting my CDL and then going from there.

I spoke with a YRC recruiter recently. They're hiring local daytime P&D drivers, which is the kind of work I prefer, but the starting pay was laughable compared to what everyone else is offering right now. The recruiting site lists the top rate, which is over $24/hour... but he explained that honestly it would be a few years before I'd hit that, in the meantime they start at $17, and you get very small raises every so often after you make the union. Pretty lame, you can make that much driving a straight truck around here.

Yeah, they wanted to work me 40+ hours per week on the dock and classify me as PT...NO benefits and $11.88 an hour...I passed.

    rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
