The ailing owner of Yellow Transportation and Roadway is proposing a complex regional reorganization that would shrink its dwindling presence in East Petersburg by 82 jobs overall.

Trucking giant YRC Worldwide has told union leaders it wants to pull 155 Yellow jobs out of the Route 72 terminal and shift them to other sites, including a new Yellow terminal eyed for Carlisle.

It wants this change to occur over Memorial Day weekend.

But in the space vacated by Yellow here, YRC would open a Roadway terminal, staffed by shifting 73 jobs here from other Roadway locations, said union leader Howard Rhinier.

This new terminal would begin operations June 15.
