Laid off after being their for five years. I find disgust when I see drivers in our parking lot that should not even be in a truck.Wonder how they pass DOT physical ?,I know of one former driver that was injecting insulin,(he has since retired). It seems like the only people that seniority helps is the few that can't find employment in the real world.Have had job offers from four or five companys. What ever I do, I can still make my mortage payment!!:biggrin_2553:

Yea! at these union outfits. No dress codes. They know they are protected and think everyone owes them something.

It is going to be a moot point sooner than later at YRC. Bankruptcy is not far over the horizon.

The local Yellow terminal is closing in March, 60+ layed off, and the local Roadway terminal is laying off 60+. Doesn't look good.

Don't forget that when all the high wage trucking jobs are gone the truckload carriers will cut the wages and benefits in a big way,....

Out of curiousity, what non-union or truck load carriers have dress codes? With the exeption of R&L and Conway I don't know of any other non-union. Sure don't know of any truckload carriers who have that. Could you name a few? Thanks.

I feel sorry for the drivers that are losing their jobs. But the writing was on the wall even before the merger. Neither company was doing good before the merger and I don't know what corporate america is thinking, but they all seem that mergering with another company will save both. The drivers should of seen this coming and prepared for the worest and hoped for the best.

I don't think that wages and benefits will drop like was stated earlier. The wages have dropped because of the companies hiring inexpereinced drivers and "thaught" them that the low pay is normal. As far as uniforms are concerned. I believe they are a great idea and more companies need to use them as a tool. I remember back in the day almost every company had uniforms. The drivers looked professional and we all know how you look and sound decide how much respect you get from others. I don't have company uniforms, but bought my own uniform pants and wear button up shirts.
