Our 2 barns (896/825) are merging June 8th, in the last 2 1/2 months we averaged about 7-800 bills per day between both barns with 115 bids, bid count (from last re-bid) is down to 98-101? about 40+ guys laid off. Obviously we will have to re-bid (we re-bid just last week), it will be interesting to see how many bids will be posted, my guess is 85! that'll mean 54 guys on layoff, wonderful [IMG]

As of yet no management has been let go from either barn, I suspect no one will either, they will justify keeping everyone somehow, maybe someone will get transferred somewhere else but no one is getting let go is my guess.

Back in 94-95 we merged with another Yellow barn because of downsizing, we did upwards of 2K bills a day, with only 75 guys, now we have over a hundred, BTW there have been a few COO's giving us more territory to cover, you would think, "more freight", you'd be wrong! Now with this next merge we'll only be doing at most 800 or so bills a day at a single barn and that # gets lower every week.

Both barns are EOL terminals in SoCal, orange county to be exact so even with the Great Recession we should be doing a lot more business but that's just not the case.

I think ROTATOR is right there. The hand writing is on the wall, for many YRC drivers. It's not looking good for you guys.

Many of you will survive, if the company survives. But most can not wait for the tide to turn. As many were ill prepared for an event such as this.

Current economic reports show that the majority of Americans are in debt to the tune of 130% of their discretionary income.

How anyone can do that, is beyond me.

But it does make for some strange reactions when employees are fearful of a job loss.

With Holland being closed in my area I had to find another job. The best part is it pays better then when I worked for Holland. No givebacks or anything like that. Benefits are real good, not as good as with the teamsters but with them wanting to open up the contract for more and more mine will be just as equal.

    smokyjuan Thanks this.

Smoky, hate to see you got cut. I'm not YRC, nor am I union. but...

We're starting to feel the effects locally within trucking, for the first time in over 25 years. My neighbor has been down for 3 weeks now. His company has never had to lay a driver off....even when the entire plant burned down, they had enough pre-loaded trailers it held them until the new one was finished. About 6 weeks.

    But not any more.
