Can anyone verify the below comments about yellow roadway layoffs.

Today seemed to be the day for the axe to fall, here in CNC 653, the one day cut was so deep, there was blood in the streets........65 today total, added to the already 225 laid off from this "merger" here makes 290 hard working teamsters on the street. YRC= Your Ruined Company.....thanks Billy Z. for ruining another holiday weekend with the family.....your plan to put us under by June 1 is right on track.....see Perfect Planning IS the key.....

Numbers as of 4/10 are 290 total...that breaks down to 137 dock, 26 p&d, 20 switchers, and over 100 road drivers with more to come.....word for word "expect massive job cuts, in both labor and management in the coming weeks" from BP, Dist. VP....

22 more off the dock and 20 more off the road in Atlanta today...that brings Atlanta up to 421 on lay off!..

I'm the next guy to go on the dock, that's 19 years, and I can tell you, they're gonna go deeper than that, alot deeper....problem is, we can't make service now as it is, why keep cutting? we're running out of people to work the freight. CNC

15 more in Dallas 509. Down to 678. Can you say 600?

I think STL has 119 road drivers out of 216 on lay-off. When I started at Yellow in 2000 ,I was #236, now we have merged with Roadway and between us we have 216. They (YRC) have whittled us down.

As of 4/4 at Col 857, We now have 56 laid off. First we had 11 then 35 more last weekend and now 10 more this weekend. If I find another job and it has alot to offer, This YRC can kiss my #####. I am tired of this game and so is my wife

    This is Dallas

Just got told on phone from one of the stewards that another 20 just got laid off at 509.
Still got over 100 before it gets to me, but I am seriously thinking about packing up and heading home. 800 miles is what I got this week, 1000 last week. I know i've still got a job and not laid off, but this sitting by the phone 24/7 is for the birds. It would be nice if we were all working with none laid off.

Watching the Masters I noticed Jim Furyk has a YRC logo on his shirt. Probably could have kept 5 drivers employed for the cost of that logo.

I can repeat to all of you what I was told by the Linehaul Operations Manager Phil K at Indianapolis (west #324) on 03/31/09.He told the formula for Rd. Driver layoff was the board has to avearge 2200 miles & 5 trips or they will keep laying off till they do.So take it for what it's worth based on who it came from. Our B.A. said he had'nt heard that and he was going to check into that alright.Personaly I don't think he could know it unless it was anounced during " Happy Hour"

We must not have any increase....now we have over 400 laid off in Atlanta as of tonight....20 more on the road making it 160 road drivers...and the rest local cartage.....KK

Chicago is shriveling up too......30 more laid off on Saturday.

Don't get me wrong, they are still laying off at 857(except in management, I even saw a new guy Friday night), we have over 250 laid off. I think there is a great inbalance in the total operation, I don't know if they are sharp enough to fix it, I hope so.

same situation here 50 is the norm and if you do attempt to get back in on your 8's or even 9 they usually send you back out. Like friday came in off the street on my 10th tried to send me back out to spot a trailer and drop off one stop enroute. Told them send a jr man out who hasn't gotten is hrs in this week.

Freight has been good here this week except last monday. freight coming in good condition which means alot. Averaging 12 stops on the peddle and p/u 11 bills.

Just letting some of you guys sitting home what is going on, competitors here giving discounts away like candy. A major accounts I have a good relationship with told me sales rep are spreading the rumors about us just to acquire our frt (nothing new here just old news). Estes even going around telling them they buying most of our terminals cause of our situation, which in turn I say we have an excess of real estate they're trying to sell off ect... ect... ect...

Wish they let the sales reps have their own areas instead of carving into each others territories cause you don't know who controls what sometimes.[IMG]

Gotta love it. #### near 90 guys laid off in the city yet the old boys gotta get their 6 and 7th days in. I especially love the guys that have the time in, have the age to go, are making less by actually working rather than just retiring, but show up to work just so they can hang out for a bit and then take a CC and go home early. All the while they could be retired and some laid off guy could have a job. But who am I to complain. I just should have hired in sooner.......as I'm told.
Hey we agree! There is a bunch of us at 326 that wish these old timers would go! Yet they bid a run, Then run all three trips week in and week out! Are over 70, Drawing full social security, and their pension. Then stand in dispatch bragging about it! it's pathetic!

Our shop ask for a list of mtys that needed some work. They pulled one trailer in the shop that they said it showed mty, But when they opened up the door it was loaded full with ----- ------ that the city picked in the merge.

The city driver was standing in the shop when all this was going down. I know alot of teamsters will chew me out for this, But I ask them if I can go out and check the trailers on my day off. Because management would'nt let any body else do this. I was going to devote my own time to try to save this freight that was lost in the system. But they still said NO. I was'nt doing this for them, I was doing this to try and save what customers we still had and the brotherhood. I'm just a road driver trying to save our jobs.

The first weeks of the integration I watched a trailer sit on the dry hook pad for a couple of days. Came back from my weekend and the trailer was still there. I broke the seal on it to retrieve a pro number and found appointment freight in the city and out bound freight from the previous week. The appointment freight was something the customer had been looking for for over two weeks. I brought it to managements attention. The trailer did not move from that spot for another 3 days. This was after 2 more complaints about it. I truely believe that if I had not taken it upon myself to do this that trailer would have sat for weeks.

I feel this is one reason why they were so far off on the percentage of customers we stood to lose in our region. They claimed about 15% and it wound up being more like 50%. Now if every terminal was handled the same as ours you can clearly understand why we suffered such losses.
