Two truckers are being praised for their heroism after their quick thinking helped to shield others from harm, block traffic, and then stop a moving vehicle by literally tearing open the door and hitting the brakes.
A pickup truck containing driver Brian Carney was driving northbound on I-94 in Wisconsin when something went wrong. According to authorities, the pickup was “continually striking the outside wall” and the driver was slumped over the wheel.
Driver Rafal Jedlewski and another trucker were behind the pickup and slowed down, using their vehicles to block others from passing and getting in harm’s way. They kept pace with the pickup, and when it had finally slowed down enough, Jedlewski jumped out of his truck. He ran up to the pickup and tried to open the door, but yanked the handle clean off. While the pickup was still moving, he managed to get inside and step on the brakes.
Carney was not breathing or conscious, so once the vehicle had stopped, the drivers began administering CPR. When rescue workers arrived, they transported Carney to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the incident, but say it looks like Carney may have had a “medical event while driving.”

Awesome story. This is how people used to think about truck drivers! They were hero’s and trusted. I knew they were still out there! Seems most media focus on the negative. Thanks Drivers!

May he rest in peace. And of course… GREAT JOB to the two other drivers for averting a tragedy!
Of course, let’s not forget the amazing job the investigators did as well, especially for determining that (quoting) “it looks like Carney may have had a “medical event while driving.”
I mean, had it not been for them making such a determination, I would have thought Carney got in his truck while deceased and started driving in that condition!!!

That’s just Too funny, (seems reporter lean a bit to far in the “better not say for sure” direction), for fear of getting a story incorrect.

BTW, my condolences to the family, and praise to the truckers

“it looks like Carney may have had a “medical event while driving.” Ya think? I wonder what their first clue might have been.
