Volvo has issued two recalls on more than 3,000 trucks, one recall for brake issues which increase crash risk and another for a bad piece of software in the engine control unit.
Recall number RVXX1403 will see the recall of 3,175 model year 2014-2015 VAH, VNL, and VNM trucks. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the bolts that hold the disc brake caliper to the backing plate may not have been tightened to the specified torque which could result in the disc brake caliper becoming detached. If that happened, it could affect the brake on only that wheel, causing the vehicle to pull to that side while braking.
The second recall is RVXX1404 and is only in effect for 50 model year 2015 VNL and VNX trucks that are equipped with a Volvo D16 engine. The issue is with the engine control unit which may have an incorrect parameter setting in the software which could possibly lead to the engine stalling out.
Volvo representatives will be contacting those for whom the recall is in effect, but if you believe you may have a vehicle on the recall list, you should call Volvo customer service at 1 (800) 528-6586.
