Management was useless. Head of dispatch was a racist and treated whites like trash and we were there to make a living, not play racial games. the second in charge sat his obese self in his office doing as little as possible except for eating. I worked for this company before and in a very short time it went from great to horrible. Union rep sat in the dispatchers office and stabbed the drivers in the back. Bunch of lowlifes! Had to drive across town to hit thier garage for maintenance and the garage was overworked and understaffed.

Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

Everything else I can think of!

Constant scutinizing of drivers by management. Veterans are actually called baby killers. Managers constantly find ways to fire you before you reach 4 weeks vacation

Pros

Days off

Cons

Poor truck maintenance

I think something else is going on with this company cause payroll mistakes for the last 4 weeks, job is hard unloading truck 8-11 stop heavy cores 7-10 / drive , drop off, pick up weekly pay is no good pay $1200-$1300 , issues with payroll - no transparent explanation when driver questioned the Manager …

Inadequate Pay For Work Performed Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Jamesburg, NJ - Typical day; You drive to different car dealerships, unloading boxes and now engine cores (Which added hours to our work week). Some stuff is heavy, most not...for approximately 5.5 hours and approximately 6 hours driving. What I believe I learned- Most of these companies are the same, drawing from the same playbook, don't sell yourself short and get out of this company as soon as I can. Management is OK. They really have no power to make things better except making sure that you get loaded in a timely fashion, which doesn't happen much now because of all the engine cores that have to be processed before you can get loaded. Workplace culture is...everyone i talk to is trying to find other jobs because they feel the pay is not enough. The hardest part about the job is NOT MAKING ENOUGH MONEY, knowing that this company hasn't raised the rate of pay in the last 8-9 years I've known them and no social life because you're too tired to do anything when you get off because you work those horrible hours so time really goes by fast. Summer time, forget about it. Sleep all day/work all night. The most enjoyable part of the job is finally getting off Saturday morning.

Pros

It's a job. Weekly check.

Cons

Cons: Inadequate pay, 5pm-3am shift, detached higher-ups, No bonuses at Christmas and otherwise.

Current Employee - Nov 8, 2023

I started working with Penske about a month ago. So far (knock on wood) I have no complaints at all. Iam being told that I will be receiving 1/2 of my $5,000 sign on bonus on November 24th. Which will absolutely be the biggest blessing I have had all year. The reason I say that is because everyday coming home I lose 2 hrs due to living in a different time zone. I commute roughly 100 miles to and from work Mon-Fri. But plan on getting a apartment in the same town as my dispatch office on the 24th. The pay is great I feel like. Truck’s are governed at 67mph. The one thing I can’t stand is the in cab facing camera. ITS WEIRD!!!!

Pros

Home daily. Great pay. Great dispatch. Understanding. Vacation time after 6 months

Cons

In cab camera. Trucks governed at 67. Bid on routes

Leasing from Penske?

Penske is NO, NO. For 1 month rent of a sleeper truck, they want $4117 + $0.18 per mile. If I run 10k miles the bill will be to $5917. I will survive, but they will be making more money than my self.

Leasing from Penske?

Leasing is way cheaper than renting, almost 50% less. I have one tractor and two straight trucks leased through Penske. I was worried about the cost, but now I'm not sure if I'll buy another truck.

On one hand it sucks because you always have a truck payment, but that's about the only negative I can think of. They take care of the taxes, IFTA, tags, free washes, they call or email me when they are due for PM's which are free. I don't pay for anything other than fuel. The tractor had Continental tire's, with about 10,000 miles they started causing a vibration, no questions asked they put a brand new full set of michelins on it. And then you get the 24 hour roadside for breakdowns, also free. Peace of mind is very nice.
