Local CDL Truck Driver - Dry Van
Minimum Requirements: (Please be sure you meet the requirements below)
Flex drivers must be willing to run both solo and team routes:
Pay: Some weeks drivers run solo, at $1350/ week guarantee, and other weeks drivers may be running as a Team at $1550/ week guarantee.
Hiring Area: 50-mile radius of Davenport, IA
Lanes: IA, IL, IN, KS, MN, MO, ND, SD, NE, WI (could cover any of the domiciles as needed. We would put them up in a hotel if needed - A lot of Chicago driving.
Miles: 1500 Solo/3000 Team Miles - Average 8 stops a week
Schedule: Start times: Monday – Friday 1700 - 0030
Home Time: Home time depends on the route the driver is on. They could be running solo or team. Depending on how far they live from Davenport the driver could see home daily/nightly. Flex drivers will be home Saturday night-Sunday night - Guaranteed weekend home time. Start back on Monday PM
Equipment Types: Peterbilt - Automatic Transmission - With Pre-Pass and EZ Pass (28'/48' Dry Van with lift gates) routes require 28; van Doubles endorsement
Freight Types: Touch freight: Automotive parts (cages, totes, loose pieces)
Truck Speed: 65 pedal and cruise
Bonus: New hire transition bonus $500-paid in full on second paycheck
Accessorial Pay: Stop Pay - All stop excluding final: $13 Single, $15 Team Split; Delay pay $18.54 per hour solo and $9.27 per hour team after 15 min free time (does not pay at stop unless it is a dealer caused delay)
Parking: Part center in Davenport, IA (has a break room with vending machines that the company shares with drivers)
Other: No pets or passengers
Training: Drivers will have to complete a minimum of one week of training on the account before they can run without a trainer. All drivers will be paid an hourly rate of $18.54. The total hours they will be running each day depends on calls out as this is a flex position.
- Must have a valid Class A license
- Must have at least 1 year of recent verifiable tractor-trailer experience hauling at least a 45' trailer
- Must live within 50 miles of Davenport, IA to apply
- Doubles preferred but not required on this specific account
- Drivers must be comfortable with maneuvering in downtown Chicago
- The physical requirement is handling, positioning and securing delivery of roller cages and lifting loose boxed parts on the floor and overhead in trailer attic on/off trailer in/out of dealership.
- Weight lift/handling range is 40-75 lbs.
Flex drivers must be willing to run both solo and team routes:
- Flex drivers are responsible for filling in for drivers who are out sick, on vacation, etc.
- Work consists of delivering aftermarket parts (lose package pieces i.e. hoods, bumpers, doors, etc.) to dealerships. Drivers will be given the keys to unlock the gate/doors at the dealership. They are responsible for unloading the trailer, scanning in the new load being delivered, picking up returns and locking the dealership back up before heading out.
- Drivers must be comfortable maneuvering a tractor-trailer in tight corridors in car lots (primarily in Chicago at night). This is a more challenging route - the ideal drivers will be comfortable with city driving (Chicago) as they frequent the city often.
