Great family company. The oldest truck is only 5 years old. Lots of ways to make extra money if you are motivated. Pays extra for hazmat and doubles. I'm in a new truck and they really take care of me. Office staff is great and dispatchers really care about you. I would recommend working here if your motivated, safe, and a professional driver.

Pros

Cons

Driving in California Ports have some bad days

Pay is extremely low and once they turn on the ELD in December drivers will no longer be able to make the "extras" doing additional moves in Oakland. Very hostile office staff.

Pros

Good place to train before you go to work for Devine, a far superior company.

Cons

Staff, equipment, lack of work.

Great company to work for. Sad to see all the drivers from other companies attempting to slander this one. I feel that if you do not like it and have moved on then you have no need to complain. The work is consistent however the ports are not but this is told well in advance. NevCal has many bonuses and performance based pay which unlocks the earning potential to nearly limitless. You only get paid what you put out. I came from OTR and see myself working here for many years to come.

Pros

Consistent work. Great pay and great staff.

Cons

I do not have any cons to list. Only the lazy and unproductive need not apply. Devine drivers are a blight.

By far the worst company to work for! Trucks are all new! Driving in Calif not fun! The owners son Brad is by far the worst ever! If the truck gets scratched or if someone at ports hit you! He’ll try and take it out of your pay!! Which is illegal! The safety guy Matt is no help! and they pay nothing!! Go to Devine with .61 mile!! Worked for both and Nevcal is the worst in the greater Reno area!!

Pros

Newer trucks

Cons

HORRIBLE COMPANY

Not a good place for experienced drivers. We mostly have new trucks with automatics, so if youre a new driver you should be ok. Pay as of December, 2017 is 41 CPM LOADED, 27 CPM EMPTY. So if you go loaded down empty up from the port youre looking at 34 CPM. Weekly driver mileage is at about 2,200 miles. There is no bonus for a clean level 1 inspection. Consider: Devine at 61 cpm, fedex, any LTL at 66cpm + activity pay. UPS at 30 hr, Waste Management, 25 hr. + over time.

Pros

Reset on weekends. On the road monday thru fri

Cons

Pay for an experienced driver's time is low. Sometimes youre in the port for hours with no hourly pay.
