The money was pretty good. But they will run you hard if you let them know that you are hungry for money and lots of miles. They make you feel like part of the family and everyone is so nice. Even the ladies in the billing office knew my name. But you make one mistake, like being late and they never let you forget it.
Pros
Family atmosphere. Nice equipment
Cons
Upper management can be rude/uncaring.

Fact versus fiction. If you didn't earn good money, had a bad experience, or were fired from Van Wyk, you deserved it! They don't discriminate based on race, they only discriminate when it comes to poor work performance and attitude. If you're a professional driver, and good person, you get treated like such at Van Wyk Trucking.
Cons
None to speak of yet

Van Wyk Inc is a very prejudice company. They discriminate against older black drivers. They do everything in their power to keep older black drivers from working as drivers for them.
Pros
If you are a older white driver you will be treated like a king
Cons
If you are a older black driver you won't receive no opportunity at this company

VanWyk treats drivers like family and o/o even though we are company drivers. Home every week, unless you chose to stay otr. At anytime you can talk to the owner or any staff member no matter their position. Amazing company to work for and amazing family. I could work for other local companies and be home daily, but I would never be treated like at VanWyk. So I will stay and stay happy and respected.
Pros
Family

Staff
Home time

VanWyk is a great family based operation with three terminals across the Mid-West region. I get home weekly if I want and paid every Friday and always on time. The trucks are Kenworth and Volvo’s all of which are 2017 or newer. Reefer trailers are swapped every two to three years as well. We have chosen to operate on a percentage basis instead of mileage and can even choose the salary range that you want to make each year. Dispatch is on top of the game and has always come through for me no matter if I want to take one day off or three days off. They will push you hard to achieve your income goals but will always Stand down if you insist. All loads are no-touch refrigerated and you get free meals and hotels when at the Sheldon, Iowa terminal for service or paperwork. We transport ice cream to frozen meats to soda pop.
Pros
Family oriented with plenty of home time when you want it.
Cons
Unfortunately no APU’S in the trucks
