The personal information of over 30,000 truck drivers and carriers were exposed on the Unified Carrier Registration Plan (UCR) website.
According to a statement posted by the UCR, a vulnerability on its website “could have potentially exposed” the sensitive information of approximately 23,000 truck drivers and 7,000 carriers.
After logging in to the UCR website, users’ Tax ID information was displayed in the URL of the web page that users were taken to. The vulnerability was discovered on March 28th and was remedied the same day. But from March 1st through March 28th, user data was vulnerable.
Since some owner-operators use their SSN instead of a Tax ID number, that is the information that was displayed instead. According to UCR, the agency will be notifying all of those whose Social Security Numbers were exposed.
UCR says that there is “no indication that a mass export” of data occurred during the vulnerability. They also claim that they’re “confident” that there is no further risk of exposure.
If you have questions about the incident, you can contact the agency at privacy@legal.ucr.gov.

UCR says that there is “no indication that a mass export” of data…
Anyone could have done a snippet; Printscreen; or copy/paste of onscreen data and UCR wouldn’t know.

Just think hmmmm if the UCR can have a major glitch, what the ELECTRONIC LOGGING DEVICE’S glitch could cause to ALL those O/O’s & Companies that people who are listening & hiring all the ATA or Ex-Employees of tht origination that’s volleyed for the possible slip up of electronic programs CAN & WILL do/create a look into someone’s financial/personal & business etc etc etc. There is no secure way of keeping stuff private because the government deems theirselves to be safely keeping our stuff secure.
Dale says
Exactly how can anyone see personal financial information from ELD credentials? You folks that see evil in every instance amaze me that you even make it out of your house. Our government doesn’t promise to “keep our stuff secure” anymore than any other entity that stores data. Get a life, sport.
Josey Wales Outlaw says
True Dale but the conspiracy is still alive and the government officials operate in it every day. I don’t know how exactly the hacker gets into the ELD’s but there are alot of analyst who have access to your info attached to every company that uses the ELD in their company trucks also some owner Ops that use the ELD’s as well. for instance Qualcomm has a monitoring system and can call up a drivers info at will. that is if the driver is having a problem and can not fix it with dispatchers the driver can get in contact with Qualcomm operators and have the system rebooted, that operatot before he or she does the reboot asks the druver for certain info and keywords from the driver that only refer to the driver in question. So yes it can be done and if a thief wants your info they will get it. And you won’t even know about it until all your money is gone.

Ah apparently you don’t know this. BUT they are required by law to keep that information secret. Why do you think company’s get sued over data breaches.

Dont seem likely such could pick such lage amounts of info without inside help from company level all the way up to state and local and possibly federal insiders
Tommy says
Stupid regulation ! They designed it without thinking that SSN can be stole . If must to insert SSN why not encrypted it and just show the last 4 digits . The gov agency and that neglected company know identity theft has been going on in this country . The main thing is Those who can change the rules just don’t care !! Or otherwise Idiot who has no clue how to protect citizen’s ID

If I can see every one of our company driver’s ‘profiles’ on line at our ELD servicing site it is certainly a program that can be, and probably will be hacked. I wouldn’t worry though. As a driver your information has been listed online in more places than you care to know. Constitutional limits on what the government could do with our personal information were breached long ago. Its not a conspiracy theory. It is a fact.
Mike says
Good luck getting anything on my info ha maybe theyll make me look better.
Albert says
We owner operators don’t have to worry too much. We all broke anyway . Who wants to steal my identity 🤣
Gene says
Everything you do online leaves an electronic “paper trail” (crumbs, if you will).
Won’t be long before some RAT comes along to pick them up……….so, watch what you spill wherever you go!

Ha ha a bunch of hackers can steal the identity of a bunch of broke dick truckers with 5 dollars in their bank accounts and child custody orders . Better stick to pilots and doctors

An open book. And who is at the core of all this big mishap . People who Only Had One Job To Do. And Failed miserably .
bruce says
Dude, calm down. The people who were suppose to guard this are just as poorly paid as we, truck driver are. There isn’t job out there where well over half of the people there don’t feel like being there or could care less about what they are doing. Luckily for me I have bad credit and I don’t care what they saw or should I say I don’t care who they know that I didn’t pay. lol
Roni says
Eld’s Most certainly can be hacked. Just today a message came across our Omni trac was hacked. We reported it but is that a solution?
Big daddy's meathouse says
Find a new profession, let the country starve to death and perhaps they would be more aggressive in their ability to find a solution to the problems that our uneducated lawmakers have created …you the ones who don’t know a damn thing about the trucking industry however they get to make all the rules regarding said industry …what a joke !! Where are we headed and why am I in this handbasket ?

Free up the drug laws and look into this and the pornography that is bad for americans

Any and all things Microsoft are subject to security breach by design. The NTFS format is a joke. Third party security features, sold separately, are a bigger joke. Keep doling out the dough, suckers. This is another tool you voluntarily support. By doing so,you are funding your own demise.
