The country may not be fully out of the pandemic woods quite yet, but wide-reaching businesses and organizations are cautiously optimistic the truck driving industry can return to some type of normalcy. With perhaps changing Covid guidelines to emerge in the fall, the American Trucking Associations announced a full slate of exciting conferences.
Trucking issues surrounding health and safety will lead the organization’s coming schedule beginning in September. The Safety, Security & Human Resources conference is expected to kick off Sept. 8-10 at the Indianapolis, IN, Convention Center. The joint effort by the ATA Safety Management Council and Transportation Security Council offers a lineup of leading industry experts who will present discussions on topics such as the following.
- Cargo Security
- Entry-level driver training
- Safety technology & policy
- Recommended hiring practices
- Engaging and retaining drivers with tools for positive recognition
Those in need of recertification credits can reportedly earn points from the North American Transportation Management Institute for attending.
On the heels of the Indianapolis conference, the ATA plans to open its Technology and Maintenance Council annual meeting, running Sept. 12-16 in Cleveland, OH. A list of health and safety guidelines has reportedly been issued to make the in-person gathering a success. Hailed as the trucking sector’s largest gathering since pandemic mandates shuttered convention centers, industry leaders are expected to attend.
“We are very excited to host one of the industry’s first in-person gatherings in Cleveland in just a few weeks,” ATA president Chris Spear reportedly said. “Our members are excited to gather together, and we are equally eager to host them, but with a continued emphasis on our members’ health and safety. The TMC Fall Meeting has already seen strong registration, reflecting our members’ desire to resume meeting and their belief in our commitment to their wellness.”
The gathering features an exhibit hall, evening reception, study groups, and more than a dozen educational components, as well as a classic pinewood derby. Other trucking industry get-togethers worth putting on your calendar including the following.
