Businesses plan to tip their hats in a show of thanks to more than 3.6 million CDL professionals during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week Sept. 11-17.
Truck drivers deliver more than 70 percent of all medical supplies, groceries, and the materials used to build homes. Upwards of 80 percent of American communities rely on truckers to deliver their basic needs. And the men and women driving big rigs travel 400 billion miles every year to keep the country’s supply chain open.
Retailers such as Sheetz, Pilot, Love’s, Pilot J, and Kwik Trip/Kwik Star are offering discounts on diesel. Dropping the cost below the national average that recently hovered over $5 will put a little extra cash in independent drivers’ pockets and, hopefully, inch back inflation related to high diesel prices at the pump.
“Thank you to our very own Pilot drivers and all the professional drivers out there for trucking through even the toughest times. We are honored to serve you, and we’re going even further this Driver Appreciation to celebrate your immense contributions,” Pilot CEO Shameek Konar reportedly said.
Pilot plans to turn Driver Appreciate Week into a two-month marathon that will run through October 31. Free beverages, increased bonus points, and additional discounts are expected when using the PushForPoints app. Drivers who take advantage of free onsite safety checks will also be entered in a raffle.
Sheetz plans to drop the price of diesel to $4.49 per gallon during Truck Driver Appreciation Week. Along with lower prices at the pump, the fuel and convenience chain offers a free meal or beverage by ordering through the Sheetz mobile app and entering the “TRUCKYEAH.”
“As a company, we are committed to showing appreciation for our customers. We wanted to go above and beyond for Truck Driver Appreciation Week by providing extended offers that will be unquestionably beneficial to them,” CEO Travis Sheetz reportedly said.
The Trucker Path, The Trucker Media Group, Sheetz, and Kwik Trip/Kwik Star have banded together to hold a Free Fuel Sweepstakes during appreciation week. Drivers holding a valid CDL can enter at Free Fuel Sweepstakes and 20 winners are expected to receive a $500 gift card.
“With fuel prices at record high levels, the 2022 NTDAW Free Fuel Sweepstakes will help make a difference. National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a time to rally around the nation’s truck drivers who work hard delivering goods and have kept the economy on its feet despite facing unprecedented obstacles,” Trucker Path CMO Chris Oliver reportedly said. “ We are thrilled to organize and sponsor this sweepstakes to show them the appreciation they deserve and recognize their dedication.”
The give-back is not reportedly available in Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, and New York.
Love’s Travel Stop is also giving away 23.5 million My Love Rewards points to professional truckers through Sept. 30.
