Freight brokerage and third-party logistics provider FitzMark has expanded its service portfolio with the acquisition of United Transportation Services, a Colorado-based logistics company specializing in trade show transportation. The transaction gives FitzMark additional capabilities in a specialized segment that often requires precise scheduling, flexible transportation options, and high-touch freight handling.
Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Aurora, Colorado, United Transportation Services, or UTS, operates as a full-service third-party logistics provider. The company primarily serves customers in the retail and hospitality industries while maintaining significant experience coordinating transportation for trade shows and similar events.
UTS offers several transportation options, including dry van, refrigerated, flatbed, and specialty truckload services. Its capabilities extend beyond traditional freight brokerage to include packaging, warehousing, and white-glove delivery. These services can be particularly important for trade show customers that need equipment, displays, merchandise, and other materials delivered according to strict event schedules.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to FreightWaves, the transaction officially closed on Tuesday.
UTS CEO and President Bruce Parsons said joining FitzMark represents a new opportunity for the company. With access to FitzMark’s national platform, UTS expects to expand its transportation capacity and service offerings while reaching a larger community of shippers.
The acquisition also adds UTS to an established logistics network. Indianapolis-based FitzMark provides freight brokerage services along with its proprietary transportation management system. The company currently serves more than 3,000 shippers and works with approximately 25,000 carriers, giving UTS access to a significantly larger transportation network.
FitzMark is backed by private equity firm Calera Capital, which has supported the company’s expansion strategy. The UTS transaction represents FitzMark’s 11th acquisition since the company was founded in 2006, demonstrating its continued use of acquisitions to broaden capabilities and increase its presence in different areas of freight transportation.
FitzMark founder and CEO Scott Fitzgerald said the companies share similar core values and expressed support for the UTS team as it continues growing within the larger organization. The combination is expected to provide additional resources and capacity while allowing UTS to build on its existing customer relationships and specialized logistics experience.
The deal follows several previous acquisitions that have expanded FitzMark’s transportation offerings. In 2025, the company acquired Hometown Logistics, strengthening its dry van and flatbed capabilities. Earlier that year, FitzMark also purchased High Point Logistics and Pentonix Freight, adding refrigerated, less-than-truckload, and managed transportation expertise.
Adding UTS further diversifies FitzMark’s portfolio by introducing more specialized trade show logistics and warehousing capabilities. The acquisition also reflects the broader consolidation trend within third-party logistics, as larger providers seek additional scale, specialized expertise, carrier capacity, and service offerings through acquisitions.
