A former Tennessee Highway Patrol officer has been charged with crimes related to an alleged bribery scheme he ran at a weigh station. The officer has been indicted on six felony charges.
Ray Lee Stubblefield Jr. worked at the weight station on I-81 in Greene County, Tennessee. According to WATE, Stubblefield allegedly accepted bribes from truck and trailer repair businesses in exchange for sending them ‘customers.’
Stubblefield faces three counts of bribery of a public servant and three counts of conspiracy to bribe a public servant. The violations allegedly occurred between 2015 and 2017, but an internal investigation didn’t begin until March of 2019. Stubblefield was fired for “gross misconduct” on September 12th, 2019.
Court documents don’t appear to indicate whether or not any of the three business owners who paid Stubblefield kickbacks have been charged with a crime.
Stubblefield is scheduled to be arraigned on January 10th.

Avi says
Yes. And we thank him for his… ehhh… service.

Kick backs never thought this was possible! Seen a lot of stations that have on site forklifts and Tow trucks on standby.

rowan county, ky I-64 WB, east of Morehead
put me out of service there a few years ago because he “heard” an air leak as I was rolling across his scales…then told me, there’s my brother in laws phone number on that paper taped to the wall. He’s the only one in the area !
NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN
Kenny says
They made me have the pitman arm changed. The officer new a guy and told me I could call him. The guy had the part changed it in 5 minutes. Same scale. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with one one on the truck.
Larry says
The bad part. (We all know this hoes on)
Is when I ask a legit question. Honest folks don’t dare tell you for fear they might get accused of getting kickbacks. This hurts everyone.
Thomas Snipes says
Tennessee im sure would be no comparison to Ky just as Mr Burke described. I’ve been running both of these states for many years and the officials in Ky are ruthless especially on i-64 in Shelbyville, Ky. I won’t slander the ranking officers name but he thinks he’s a comedian and try’s to humiliate drivers constantly.
JohnT says
Why not say his name? You should report him! People like you let the bad ones keep their job.
Deputy Dawg 2020 says
Call him out….Don’t be a puss…How can you address a problem if you don’t speak up about it? Do we need to put you in a TIMEOUT? Grow up and let the punishment fit the crime….jeez
Paul says
Oh, after decades of this they finally caught one. Imagine that, a dishonest law enforcement officer!
scott says
Lock him up
Billy says
Was it Ron Harris/prime Towing that was paying him off?
David says
This has been going on for a long time. Back in the latter 70’s, crossed scales on I-75 sb Ga. Pulled over to parking to show my o-o permit, all was legal. But, I had a crack along the mounting plate on a 48″ slider, the hair line crack was about 2″ long and in one of the factory welds. Luckily, for me they knew a guy that was able to come and make repairs. He shows up ( must have been on call),starts his buzz bomb welder and burns about a quarter stick of a 3/32″ rod.. The welder ran for approximately 3 minutes ( didn’t vee out the crack) but, now after $50.00 and 30 minutes. I was able to go , you know that I really appreciated that!!! A- holes !!!!
