Every year, Wreaths Across America, places millions of wreaths on the grave sites of veterans across the country. And, just like everything else, most wreaths are brought by truck.
According to Transport Topics, Wreaths Across America (WAA) delivered 2.25 million wreaths this year. The wreaths set out earlier this week thanks to the mostly-volunteer drivers of 580 different trucks. But the wreaths don’t just go straight to cemeteries. Many trucks make stops along the way at events, American Legion posts, community centers, and more. At each stop, WAA reinforces their mission to “Remember, Honor, and Teach.”
“We made at least three stops every day at schools, VFW Halls, American Legions,” ABF Freight driver Nate McCarty told Transport Topics. “They presented wreaths to Gold Star families in the communities, and for us, it’s been kind of an emotional roller coaster.”
Together, hundreds of thousands of volunteers and WAA employees placed the wreaths on graves at 2,141 locations in the United States and even two cemeteries in Europe.
Well done drivers and all those who helped honor our fallen soldiers at their final resting sites!

This year was my first time participating in WAA, if it wasn’t for NAPA Transportation based in Mechanicsburg PA for letting me use one of their trailers I would not have been able to make my four deliveries to cemeteries here in Pennsylvania.. My first stop was about 30 miles south of my home town of Scranton, Hanover Green Cemetery which happens to be their first year participating as well. Saturday afternoon I took my 6yr old daughter with me and was proud to watch her lay a wreath and she was happy that it was one her father helped to deliver..
