On Tuesday, November 20th, an unnamed OOIDA office employee was gunned down in the OOIDA parking lot. The victim, whose identity has still not been released, was still in critical but stable condition on the 23rd, but no more is known about her recovery.
She was leaving the office at approximately 5:40pm when a man approached her and shot her in the parking lot. The man has since been unofficially identified as Alan Duane Lovelace, the woman’s estranged boyfriend. Since it was the end of the day, there were several other people in the parking lot at the time of the shooting including an OOIDA member who had been visiting the office. OOIDA president Jim Johnston spoke to the employees the following morning.
“I would like to pass along my sincere gratitude to everyone who was in the parking lot at the time of the shooting who assisted our fellow employee and law enforcement last night,” Johnston told employees Wednesday morning. “They acted courageously by caring for her and immediately calling the authorities. They also astutely observed the shooter and his actions after the incident and did their best to help law enforcement with the ensuing investigation.”
Lovelace fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle and the manhunt ensued. Police immediately stated that Lovelace was wanted for questioning, but it wasn’t until late on Thursday night that police got the break they needed. Lovelace used his cell phone and they were able to get a location on him, and at 2:30am early Friday morning they attempted to stop and apprehend him. Lovelace led police on a short, low-speed chase which ended at a dead-end road. When police tried to approach the vehicle and get Lovelace out, he killed himself using a handgun.

Praying for the victim but at least there’s one POS our tax money isn’t paying for.

It seems like this type of homicide is becoming a trend, using guns to solve problems is not a gun issue but a social issue. I’m sorry to read this bad news, I lost my daughter to the same type of murder suicide.

My prayers to the victim, and thanks to law enforcement, and the witnesses.

I’m so sorry to hear of your daughter. I almost lost my life to a similar incident with an abusive boyfriend. In front of my small kids he tried to kill me with a butcher knife. I left, and he has been stalking me and harrassing me for the past 10 years. Control. These types are scary. Thankfully, this man saved us taxpayers the expense of a trial and killed himself. I have no sympathy for him. My heart goes out to the woman and her family.

Only cowards hurt women and then kill themselves rather than taking responsibility for their actions. Now he can’t hurt anyone else.
Jason says
That is what spinless cowards do, they hurt others first, flee the scene, before hurting themselves.

I hate it when folks think they can fix a problem with violence.Though was enthused to hear this dirtbag would no longer be breathing our air and saved the taxpayers the trouble! Our thoughts and best wishes go out to this victim and her family during this terrible time.
