A carrier owner is facing nine felony charges related to allegedly fraudulent business practices. Over the course of several years, police say she overcharged just one client by more than $3.65 million.
Lorie Stuer is co-owner of Michigan-based Stoney Creek Trucking. In December of last year, a construction equipment company, Bandit Industries, filed a complaint with the country Sheriff’s office. The complaint led to a five-month investigation.
Authorities found that since 2011, Stuer had been artificially inflating invoices sent to Bandit. All told, the company had been overcharged by $3.65 million.
Nine felony charges have been filed against Stuer. She faces three counts of false pretenses totaling $1M or more, three counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and three counts of fraud for obtaining signature with intent to defraud.

This is bad accounting on the part of Bandit as much as a criminal act by her.
Harry says
I agree they bare some responsibility, but not “as much”.
Hers was intent to defraud, their was negligence….without intent.
Charles Sanders says
Oh REALLY? Bad Accounting???? on BANDIT’S part???? Is it really a CRIME to overlook $3.65 million in invoice “errors” being charged to YOU???

While this might be so from a standpoint of pure capitalism.
But might there be a more nobler way of acting towards each other whereby everyone doesn’t need to conduct themselves as if everyone is a predator?
Again, are the criminals the ones a society should be looking to unto setting the tone of their Nation?? Yes, “that’s the way it currently is”. But it only got that way because too many people were not paying attention and said/did little of consequence while the criminals became the drivers of interpersonal transactions (professional and personal).
It’s FAR too easy to believe the only swamp that needs draining in America, are “those others in politics”.

I think the 0 key on her computer kept getting stuck.

W T F ????? What kind of accounting department can’t catch a mistake like that? That’s as bad as the stupid woman spilling hot coffee on herself and suing McDonald’s…..and winning. I’d be embarrassed to call the Sherriff’s department and tell them I was stupid enough, not to back check someone billing me…..for 8 years?????? I repeat, W T F ????? Jeez, our society has become so candyassed….it’s ALWAYS somebody’s fault but mine….
