A trucker has been arrested after he drove for about 10 miles against the flow of traffic on an interstate in Vermont. When asked, the driver was “unable to provide an explanation” for his actions.
Vermont State Police got multiple calls just before 3pm on Tuesday of this past week about a tractor-trailer driving the wrong way. According to the police report, 63-year-old Daniel Sheehan Jr. was arrested after driving South for approximately 10 miles on I-89 North.
State Troopers were able to get Sheehan’s truck stopped and pulled into a U-turn area.
According to the police report, Sheehan “was unable to provide an explanation as to how he ended up driving wrong way against the flow of traffic for approximately 10 miles.” After being examined by emergency medical personnel, Sheehan was arrested and cited on suspicion of DUI and Gross Negligent Operation.
Miraculously, there were no reported crashes and no one was hurt during the incident. According to authorities however, several vehicles were run off the road before Sheehan could be stopped.
Police are still looking for more information on the incident. If you have any other information, you are asked to call Trooper Tingle at the Royalton Barracks at 802-234-9933.
