If he had a fairly good idea of the problem, sure try it yourself. Saving money is always better. But blindly going out to buy parts based on a faulty understanding of the issues is always going to cost more.
And yes, I did learn that the hard way with a personal vehicle I had. Which is why I advised from the start to pay the professional.Last edited: Feb 23, 2020

I feel bad for the OP. Classic example of being tight on funds and it leading to making you make a decision which ends up costing you more money which ends up making funds even tighter. Yes that’s prob a run on sentence but I failed English class.dunchues Thanks this. -
