Hey guys , I recently got my CDL in November 2019 , I’ve been working as a yard jockey for a food distribution center. My question is would another local job consider me driving the hostler as tractor trailer experience ? I also use the tractor periodically to move trailers in the yard also , would that also be considered experience for another local driving cdl a job? I really would like to get into a local freight job such as ABF , UPS FREIGHT , or FedEx Freight.

    No.

Time employed by so and so from month year to month year. Reason leaving? Going OTR with new employer. And SNIP! Done.

You will at some point if not aleady become a Minister of Backing. That yard jockey work is good fro at least thta.

You will want twice the room to transition from the little Bulters to the really large OTR sleeper trucks.

Any employer with any common horse sense would love to have you.
You're on top of the worst problem new drivers have.... backing. Yup...it will be more difficult with a OTR tractor. But you got it down.
Now do employers have common horse sense? That's the problem.

Go down to the local Teamsters hall, and introduce yourself. Explain yourself.

Then hang around until they get you on with someone or you make them arrest you for trespassing.

Thank you all for the help, I would love to go OTR but cannot due to certain circumstances, so I would most likely be applying for local city driver jobs , just something that would have me home every night .

    There are plenty of those.
One really good one. If you want the exercise. Which is so good for you. Do food service. Sysco, etc. Pays really good. Home everyday.
If I could. I'd be doing that. I have an old lower back injury from falling on ice. No way. Can't.
