Meh. I survived SARS, west nile, bird flu, ebola, zika, the man-cold etc. Not worried. My stock portfolio's gonna be great in a couple months though

It is like the planet has a virus, us, and this is immune system fighting it off. It is killing the elderly and the immune compromised and those with lung issues. It's not, so far, killed any children or infants like the flu does. So really it is a virus killing off Boomers.

You can write off the H1n1 from that list only 10 years for me to get it. Or 11 actually.

Keep it simple: You will be exposed at some point. You will either get sick or not. If you get sick you either survive, or not.
My biggest worry is when the outbreak gets to the point that the economy shuts down. Drivers start getting sick, go into quarantine along with truck.
Driver goes into Seattle to deliver but the city goes into quarantine and no one leaves....
Shippers and receivers shutting down for covid19...
Travel restrictions....
When you do get sick, do you isolate at a truckstop and ride it out? At what point do you call 911?
These are the questions keeping me awake.joshuapowell61, dwells40, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this. -

I read a article on ZH about Kirkland WA where firefighters are entering quarintine. Putting the other 70% on overtime. Hospitals have set up hotlines to screen the sick. If they are not traveled etc they get nothing. Not even a ER visit. So they ride it out at home. One airport screener fully masked gloved etc got it. In the chinese screening gates from that section of the airport supporting airtravel to and from there.
I think America will simply stop at some point when entire towns quit leaving their homes. Either by order or voluntary.
Trucking? you are on your own. If YOU get sick, prepare for the situation where you are told to quarantine 2000 miles from home. In your truck cab and sleeper? its not going to work.
Once you accept that your life has a beginning and a ending, then each day is a gift. Not all of us are destined to have a peaceful trouble free to 100 years old. Its does not work that way. The good news is that most of the people who do get Covid19 either the S or L strain (Its mutating) survive. The problem is the infecting. We are not going to be able to put a plug on that. Unless all public spaces are sprayed down with a solution capable of killing virus daily. That includes stores, mcdonalds, truckstops libraries etc.
That is a problem no one is prepared to attack right now. Its inadequate.
The good news is in the states that have power from Coal, we have 60+ days stockpiled. So as long the trains roll the coal to them alls well. Once they stop well.. you have two months to figure out what you are going to do when the power quits. It would be every man for himself then. Along with the power goes the water treatment, supply and sewer etc.bentstrider83, rickyboricky, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this. -
The real question is, does the virus adhere to cat hair?
