Funny thing is it's gonna be trucks and drivers that are going to be delivering everything to sustain life and happiness (including meds) as usual, through this virus.
Corona virus cases will skyrocket in a week.

Once in a while I battle illness. But it has been a very long time since I landed in that ER the first of the year the way i did. That was a real bad one. But not as bad as it might have been.
sealevel Thanks this. -

I understand the fear but honestly think it will subside in a few weeks. It's a great lesson to show how vulnerable we really are if nothing else. -
Its still in its infancy here in the states, we don't know if we are going to be able to contain it or not.
But it's looking kind of bad so far, unfortunately.
It's not yet a pandemic, but it's looking more and more likely as governments panic and close their borders, order travel bans, etc.
If it breaks out and spreads across the globe then we are supposed to be looking at 50+ million dead. About 1/4 people will catch it.
That's what GE has been talking about today. Manufacture is pretty much impacted all over the world. China is completely offline.
GE's manufacturing plant in Seattle was shut down because the local virus cluster or whatever was just across the street. They manufacture drugs, insulins, vaccinations, etc.
Italy and Israel are closed completely. I am not sure if any new are added to that.

I've watched the red on that map grow fairly quickly this past week or so. -
The US has never in it's short history as a nation dealt with a plague. Europe has. We never saw the Black Plague, Spanish Flu didn't hit us any where near as hard. We have never suffered the losses Europe or the Asian nations have.
They get it. Viruses mutate faster than any other disease vector. Every time a virus jumps from one host to the next is a chance for mutation. That is why they are scared. Today, nCovid19 is mild. What about next month? A virus that is as contagious as nCovid19 is an epidemiologists darkest nightmare.
Currently, a 3% (global average) kill rate. Who is to say it will stay at 3%? What if nCovid19 kicks it up a notch? When will Americans begin to take it seriously? At 5%? 15%? 50%?
Like I said, viruses mutate. Fast. The key is beating this bugger NOW, while it is still weak. We wait, it gets worse. Much worse.
And bear in mind, IF this particular bugger hits a 30% kill rate (which IS a possibility, whether you want to believe it or not), civilizations could fall. It took Europe CENTURIES to recover from the Black Plague. Heck, they are STILL recovering, thanks to other issues (two World Wars and the Spanish Flu).
Disease should never be ignored, nor scoffed at. Just because it seems "mild" now doesn't mean it should be ignored. After all, it wasn't that long ago that Flu was considered a "mild" disease, and look at it now. -
