I hope to be in the USA before the end of this month... I wonder what I will find....
Watching videos about what is going on in the USA and I think folks are going CRAZY over there!! :biggrin_2554:
Not everybody is dying from this thing... is the media responsible for all this?
There are not millions of people dying from this.... why all this panic? Like this is the "end of the world"?
C'mon.... some may die if they already have other diseases or too old or weak immune system.... but many others may get sick and then will get better... C'mon.... :biggrin_2552:

I don't know if you all know about Carnaval in Brasil... it's the biggest national wild party and celebration in the country... I wonder how Carnaval in Brasil would have been if this virus were hitting hard here during Carnaval... :biggrin_1square1:

I've already closed the window before coming here but the FMCSA has suspended HOS rules for relief drivers due to the declaration of national emergency.

(Go look for the exact wording)

Get ready for a lot of 8 hour loads and then "hurry up and drive" with a maxed out truck.

I sat through the Sunday morning news shows and if one more journalist mentions cruise ship I'm gonna throw my coffee mug through the screen. Airlines, schools, hospitals and cruise ships, blah blah blah, and nothing about logistics, supply lines, distribution centers, etc.

They did harangue a rep from the task force about when the medical kits are going to be distributed, probably getting bids from all the brokerage houses at $8-12/mi. Then when they've done passing that around like a Vegas hooker you'll be expected to do a "hot" load for .75cpm with a 9 am appointment time, 30 trucks, 2 docks.

But my question is, what happens if ONE of those drivers sneezes in the guard shack? Fuuuuuuu,,,,,

Ive been considering a proper dinner sometime soon before they think to close the place. Its time for one of those anyway.

A long time ago in trucking days, I pulled into a holiday inn that happened to have a bit of truck parking. No problem, place was essentially empty. Figured I get a meal there at their eating corner. Turned out to be a full service resturants. QUIET too. YAY!!!

I pick a table sit down. A pretty comes along with menu. Pours coffee leaves me be.

I order a proper dinner and all the trimmings, its been a couple thousand miles since the last one and I hope they can cook back there.

As the meal arrived to the table I found myself with 6 staffers, two cooks and one manager essentially having their own meals right along listening to road stories or what not. At first when they came along to my table and became very excessively helpful with only one customer (A paying customer at that...) in the joint it really threw me for a loop. I finally accepted that we will make a family meal out of it And so we passed I think three hours like that towards evening.

People sometimes asked if I had ladies in every port out there I tell them no then proceed to tell the famous holiday inn story with 8 pretties at the table.

    =)

They still don't believe me. HA.... only once in a life time. We are truly blessed. (I never told them about the regular 6 in toledo yet, I saved that for me. =)

My bill was supposed to be about 40 dollars and the tips were a bit excessive to all of them coming out to about 120 total for their time and good service with the decent food and coffee.

    Sometimes I wonder.

To get to a million deaths you have to start with 1. CDC is estimating between 500,000 -5million in the USA.

I hope that I can express several thoughts and not be crucified for it.

First. People die all the time. We all have a number to our days. Enjoy them some of us do not get to have any more tomorrows.

Second. Panic is the opposite of decisions in battle and use of reason and critical thinking. If millions want to be tested three times day to breathe easy then it's a monumental waste. (4000 dollars a test kit)

Third. The United States has faced certain situations in our history. However, I believe in my life time with the strict exception of Three Mile Island in the late 70's Conowingo during Anges in that era (They had loaded the dam to blow on command, taking away a percentage of power load and dump it onto peach bottom nuclear facility which we were not sure if they were able to take the load.) The NYC Blackout, the 1968 military invasion of Baltimore to crush the insurrections during civil rights wars and so on. I can go on. The NYC blackout was epic. One manager made the decision to dump the entire Northeast onto the mighty niagra generators at Niagra falls and ran them all out.

Those carried the entire NE for approximately 12 minutes buying time for other power managers to see what is possible before they got burned out.

When I sit and think back further into history and accept that people as a herd of horses will panic, run about, go crazy or even Loco and so on that is on them. I only worry about my family, my friends and those who probably can use a hand here and there in very small ways so they don't go loco either.

If America Panics I say thats a shame, a big deal. And stay calm relatively. Morale might suffer a little bit because the people has gone loco. (*See where i am going with this?)

I am not going to bring religion into this other than one simple thought. If you are saved and know that there is always a morning waiting for you after your reckoning at the Judgement Seat then there is no reason to be afraid more than usual.

This next part is where some people will have trouble with...

The United States I live in is not the same as it was before 9-11, nor was it the same as it was in the 60's Even in the darkest days of Cold War 30 minutes from nuclear frying by missile delivered guaranteed (Old dominos Pizza slogan) We enjoyed life fully. Good and bad.

The USA today is thinking ok, the population has gone loco. Its time to dust off old wartime powers and implement them. From little small town mayors all the way to the US President considering imposing travel bans inside the USA for Citizens and everyone else is flat crazy. But he is considering it. Will he do it? It will cost him the election so I gamble he wont ban that. ANY thing but that.

Even if he did ban, it wont help. They say it's infectious without symptoms for what? 5 weeks? Who the hell knows. If you are not infected there is nothing to worry about. Except the overall society panicking and gone loco.

When all this blows over things will be changed again. Just like after the smoke cleared after 9-11 and invasions began. The 2003 iraqi invasion in particular. For months that railroad shreiked with the sound of empty flatcars racing south to load military war tanks and vehicles to the ports from St Louis where they were gathered from all over the USA. Every hour they raced south at 90+ Annoying. I quit hearing them after a while. That special screech.

Whatever happens take care of your home and your world as best you can. wherever you are. A panicking people in a town, city, county or state is a special problem all its own, and creates temptations for our Government to seriously clamp down.

And it may still not stop the killing if this thing really starts to rage properly taking millions of lives. I'll cross that bridge when we get to it.Then. There is no point in panicking.

Time will tell... I don't see the media talking about how many infected people got better... how many survived... I heard the elderly and those who carry some type of disease or weakness may die or suffer really hard... but those who are healthy recover after a couple weeks... China says the peak has passed... I don't believe the crazy hype about this... and those who go nuts are the ones contributing for the situation to get worse.... Believe what you want... time will tell...
