1st YES IT IS THE FLU. It's from the same family of flu as bird and swine.
Per CDC the death rate is 1% higher.

Per the cdc 4,000 people died from the flu in just the U S last week... care to guess how many died from the Coronavirus....?

 

112 dead in the US so far. Globally 8,000(and rising).

Let's be clear, the only way that this corona virus and influenza are the same is that they are both viruses and have similar symptoms. After that, they are like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari. Sure they are both cars, but unless you're in a movie they don't compare.

influenza does not infect everyone worldwide. The corona virus will. So if you take the higher rate/number of infected and add even just that smaller increase in mortality rate. You are looking at something much more severe. Panic is not the answer. But neither is saying "oh this is nothing."

Interesting comparison.

A Ferrari in the wrong hands will break loose and kill the driver (and the girlfriend he was trying to impress.) as he goes off the road backwards at 150 mph. Bodies will be removed with a spatula.

Yet more people die in Fords. Why? Because not everyone can afford a Ferrari, and more Fords are built in a week than every Ferrari ever made.

It's a tangent, but I thought it was interesting. Probably only 1000 fatalities in a Ferrari ever.

 

Let’s not forget that Fords have a tendency to be recall prone for safety defects(especially as far as fuel systems go).
